Definitions change and evolve all of the time though. There are studiers and researchers, as well as an asexual community, who define asexuality, as a sexual orientation, simply as not experiencing sexual attraction. Sexual orientations (doesn't matter which one) do not dictate how often one engages in sexual activities, nor how much they enjoy them. Sexual attraction does not equal sexual behavior or libido. I'm not sure why you seem to want to argue otherwise.

I think I'll take a textbook definition over someone's youtube video for my references, but thanks for the offer. Asexuality is not considered an orientation in the same way that homosexuality or bisexuality would be. Regardless of how others might like to view it, what defines asexuality doesn't change. It also doesn't change your right to identify as such if you feel the need. Either way, tis your life, my dear, so just keep smiling and enjoy it! Sexuality doesn't matter, just good music lol

Speaking as an asexual, I'd say I'm pretty damn informed. As a sexual orientation, asexuality means that you do not experience sexual attraction. People do not need to feel sexual attraction in order to partake in, and/or enjoy sexual activities. It's true that many aces feel indifferent towards sex, or are non-libiodoists, but that isn't what it means to be asexual. Please check out youtube user 'swankivy'; you might learn a thing or two!

There are other places to research things besides the internet, please try this sometime. If you identify as asexual, good for you, but that doesn't make you (or your youtube pal) an expert on the topic. It sounds like the definition (which is unchanging) is only outdated because it doesn't suit your world view. Please don't try to push your own personal views/agenda off on those of us who can read research without bias. Oh, and try to be less butthurt when someone contradicts you, mmk? ;-)

What defines asexuality is the lack of sexual attraction, that's it, nothing else. I do wish that you'd either check out swankivy (she's good about citing legitimate research and researchers who've studied asexuality) or perhaps go and look up the research yourself (asexualitystudies*dot*org is interesting, for a start)...If you're going to insist on using outdated definitions, then I'd ask that you at least refrain from trying to inform anyone on the topic. Enjoy your life as well.

You're referring to asexual reproduction. That's completely different. When referring to humans, there is a sexual orientation of being asexual.

Asexual is a term used for animals that can reproduce with themselves without a partner. Very few animals (ex. Sharks) can do this.
