Hi Lucie it's Mick in the UK. Thank you for reacting to Emily's version of Paul McCartney's Beautiful Night, and thank you Clint for posting. Beautiful Night, beautiful song, beautiful performance. Emily is just incredible. She may not be mainstream at the moment but it will come. She has bren approached by record labels but they generally want full control and a quick return, whereas I believe that Emily should have, and probably wants full artistic control, and I don't blame her. She is the one with the talent. She does all her own music arrangements, her own recordings, and arranges her own mixing and mastering before the song is released. The record label would have to do nothing up to this point. Just organise promotion and distribution. As for Don Henley and the like, they should be grateful that someone wants to record their songs? Emily has had to withdraw five of her songs from her You Tube channel because of contractual problems, including Desperado by The Eagles, and an amazingly beautiful version of The Rose by Bette Midler, from the film of the same name about the life story of Janis Joplin. The film company also own the music rights. Such a shame? So thank you Lucie, take care, kind regards, Mick.

Hi Lucie, first of all thanks for the terrific reaction to Emily's brilliant Beautiful Night. It's gorgeous, gorgeous singing, and gorgeous piano. What an amazingly talented young lady. You have raised a number of important issues probably more than can be addressed in a meaningful way here. Sadly the approach Don Henly and others take to artists covering their music or reactors reacting to it will be how he is remembered by many. I don't understand the thinking behind that kind of aggressive behavior toward some kid who would like to sing Desperado on KZbin. Just seems like bullying to me. Not the kind of legacy his career should be remembered for but that's where we are at. The other issues of demographics of audience and how these talented young people get their music out there are obstacles to deal with. In Emily's case that may happen through her songwriting. She has all the tools to break through to her own generation. I have been watching as Lucy Thomas starts her concert career and seeing audience shots there is definitely an older group. But that is not terrible, us old folks want to be entertained too 😊 and have money for tickets, albums and merchandise. Radio, streaming platforms, the whole music delivery system, has changed but you have to believe there is room in it for someone as talented and dedicated as Emily. She's a very smart young lady, I believe she will figure it all out. Many artists these days are their own record companies, providing product, merchandise, doing promotion through social media even running their own tours. It will be fascinating to see how Emily's future unfolds. Thanks Lucie, and take care, Clint.

Great points. I agree, I think Emily has a great chance to break out with her age group. She is a great song writer, and she can definitely lean into the pop style of music when she wants to. In Lucy Thomas's case, just my opinion, I think she will be super successful more in the musicals and plays area, such as the West End in London, and hopefully on Broadway, so I could have a chance to see her! So many people think a singer has to be successful in the Top 40 radio type music, but there are many areas to be successful in. Thanks so much for requesting Emily again!

Well put buddy. I’m afraid as far as these @$$hole stars that would stifle the enthusiasm of the young people who are actually paying them a compliment by doing their songs, I don’t have as much of a filter as you.😂 I would gladly tell him to his face exactly what I think of him. I know what it put Emily through getting that strike, and it caused her to have to pull down another half dozen songs from her channel out of fear of getting another strike. That hurt her and her fans. Christine told me that they were really worried that the Beatles might start coming down on all the people using their music, and that had to put the fear of God into that young lady, with all the Beatles covers she has done. Her channel would be gone if that ever happened. You’re only allowed 3 strikes, and just like baseball, you’re out!

It's nothing personal. You are lucrative. Old men make up 20% of the KZbin demographic. You have rather low standards when it comes to KZbin content and you are easy to get attention from.
