If it goes beyond ten minutes, they’re losing money. Even on much longer journeys, sometimes hundreds of miles, they’re only getting paid one way and can’t pick up passengers on their way back. Therefore, taxi drivers often opt for the quickest routes to serve more customers efficiently, aligning with their economic interests.
