I've stayed at hotels during hurricane evacuations with my mother and her dog both of which I miss dearly. Her dog is elderly but was given to a rescue before she died. She always brought several portions of meals (one extra just in case) a new food bowl, a new water bowl, a few toys, his leash, a blanket for him, bottled water, any medications, his thundershirt, even a brush. I know you said only for a night, but it's best to bring extra just in case. My mother's dog had to eat meals divided into four a day because he had extreme acid reflux therefore he had to eat smaller meals throughout the day. He was also on famotidine 10 mg along with medicine for itchy skin. Mom purchased new bowls so that his would be germ free from the hotel, and he needed a small cooling mattress because hard floor surfaces hurt his arthritis. Mom pampered him quite a bit, but in earlier years he lost his human (my dad) to a divorce so she decided in their later years that she would treat him like a king and she did until she died. I was devestated that no one in my family took him. I didn't even know he was given away until I found out about my mother's death and the cancer all at the same time. So to show him love, I contacted his vet since Mom gave him away in the same area. I told them about Mom and her dog is still a patient of theirs. I told them to please inform the new family or rescue itself what he's used too along with his medical needs and thankfully they did. It's been over a year now and I just hope his new people understand him and are patient with him. He's a dog yes, but he was viewed by my family as my brother, and I want him living the rest of his life happy and healthy despite us both losing alot. Please always be prepared for anything but not to a point of anxiety of course. My mother always said this was her last pet because she was elderly herself, never did we think he'd outlive her. She died when he was 16 and he is still living.

As I'm having a healthy small chocolate bar..it has milk and cocoa..that's healthy. Haha who am I kidding? lol. Ironically though I can't eat too many sweet things because after a bite or two I'm good and feel as if more would be too much for my taste buds.
