It is a tradition in my family to attend the annual showing of "It's A Wonderful Life" at the Weinberg Center For The Arts, a historic theater in Maryland built in 1926. The theater has been renovated and restored to its original old-time style that makes me feel like I have been transported back in time. It's the perfect venue for classic movies like "It's A Wonderful Life." A few years back, the theater showed my favorite Christmas movie, "White Christmas." "White Christmas" is a movie that was made to be seen on the big screen, and seeing it at this theater was fabulous. Happy New Year everyone!

For those of us who deal with seasonal depression, doctors recommend extra light this time of year. So I am seeing more and more people leaving garland with clear lights up all winter. If you enjoy the pompom garland too then maybe look for one with white, cream, gold and or silver.

@@Tracylyn42 I had to give myself “permission” to leave them up as society expects them to be gone! Now I delight in the lights left up and on till I determine! It has been so helpful and freeing! This is only my 2nd winter with my SAD diagnosis. The increase in meds and the lights have made a huge difference. I’m still struggling to buy a gym membership and take classes after working all day, but I need to exercise and love those classes! I fight running home to hibernate still, but the depression is better.

@@bingersinger1517 good for you. I am proud of you for being able to do that. I do my exercise by walking my neighborhood. I can’t do a gym and I don’t want to but walking is great for me and it helps me a lot. I just plug in some uplifting videos and walk and listen. We all have to find what works best for us and just stick to it . I work from home so hibernating is so easy for me but I am trying.. congratulations again on giving yourself permission..

As someone who never wants to take down Christmas decor, here's two things i do: the day of the three kings (which is like Christmas for some countries) is not until January 6th or 7th depending on the country. So you have to leave it up at least that long. And then, garlands, deer, and trees are not Christmas decor, they are winter woodland decor 😜 so those can at least stay until late February. 😁 Those are my excuses anyway

Growing up Roman Catholic, Christmas season did not end until the Epiphany, This year, Sunday January 6th. It was only after that day that we took down our Christmas decorations. Life is too short to take decorations down early and not experience the happiness you get from them! My grandma always leaves her decor out for winter but only the snowmen. The grandkids’ job was to distribute the decorations throughout the house before Christmas and then the same when she wanted it taken down. Santas have to go by the first week of January but she always has the kids leave the snowmen out until Valentine’s Day!

I am with you on a lot of these things. I live in Southern California near the beach and have only had one white Christmas in my 63 years of life. That Christmas was in Yosemite when I was about 12 years old and it was wonderful to have snow at the holidays. Usually we are in the mid 70s between Thanksgiving and Christmas and it makes the holidays a little anti-climactic. I was very thankful that this year we at least had some cooler weather and some rain. As for the Christmas decor, I definitely leave it up through New Year’s and I’ve been known to leave it up through the end of February if I don’t have time to put it all away. I have no problem with you leaving winter decor up for your videos. I really enjoy your channel. Many blessings for the new year Emily.

I’m right there with you on not wanting to take the decorations down, because they look so cheerful and pretty!! Over the years, I’ve just ended up buying lights, garlands, banners, and lighted decorations for almost every Holiday. I switch them out as the year goes on, and that way, I can still enjoy the extra happiness and coziness of decorated spaces in our home! For Christmas, I always leave the decorations up through the first week of January, lol! Then I transition everything to Valentines Day decor. I keep a lighted mini tree in our kitchen…I actually have a green tree and a white one, and will switch them out based on the season/Holiday, and decorate them to fit the time of year. From the 2nd week of January till February 14th, I use the white tree & decorate it for Valentines Day. Then after that, I switch everything over to St. Patrick’s Day, then Easter, then Mother’s Day, etc. Bottom line…when it comes to decorating, do what brings you joy!! 😊❤️ For your window garland, you could keep it up & add some red hearts, bows, or red & white, or even pink, decorations to it, and turn it into a lighted Valentines Day garland. Maybe you could find a strand of red, white, & pink Pom poms to switch out with the multi-colored ones, or maybe you & your kids could even make a Pom Pom strand together with those colors.

I love that you wear blush not just on the outer sides of your cheeks onto your temples but on the actual apples of your cheeks and you actually wear it to show up! Not too heavy at all which is what some people do not seem to understand. It's spot on, the way you wear it! Two thumbs 👍 👍 up!

Completely agree about Christmas decorations. The house always looks so empty after they come down. Now I like to take down the decorations I leave a few out that are more wintery - like some silver mercury glass pieces, extra candles and throw blankets. Anything to add a cozy feel .
