I can't stress enough how much gratitude journals really do change your life. When my husband passed away, I could see no light ahead. I decided to come up with three things to be grateful for every day, and believe me, lots of days it was hard to find three! I kept at it and it has improved the quality of my life so much.

Emily I have been a fan of you and your videos since the apartment days. I'm sitting here writing a comment for the first time and crying as you talk about looking for things to be grateful for. I've been struggling for the past 3 weeks. My husband had his leg broken the day after Christmas and we have a 4 month old little boy. I've found myself so suddenly overwhelmed with having to do most everything at home by myself on top of working and I've been focusing on too much negativity. I have SO MUCH to be thankful for! Thank you!!! I truly needed to be reminded of this and this video was the perfect timing. Keep being the wonderful person you are

We experienced a blizzard when I was in second grade (1977). My father was in the National Guard and was called out to bring food and supplies to people. The National Guard had to come to our house to dig us out and pick up dad. I remember walking out and getting milk and bread from the Guard in the big army truck. Now I always make sure we have bread and milk!
@ginaalspaugh33627 жыл бұрын
Lisa R, I remember that blizzard. It was so bad. 😕 Our front porch was high off of the ground, yet when we opened our front door, the snow came all of the way up to the top of the doorway, minus about eighteen inches. No one was outside driving, even on the main roads in my city. No one was ourside period. Everything looked so strange. I think that I had two days off from school because of the weather. I remember hearing about the National Guard digging people out and helping them. Finding out, forty years later on Social Media, that your dad was one of the people involved, really makes it feel like such a small world... Thanks for sharing that. 💖

💯% agree with you about gratitude! I'm a complainer by nature, but I went through some major medical issues a few years ago. I call it my attitude of gratitude, and it really does make all the difference. 😊❤️

I really can't thank you enough. Sometimes I get down about the incredibly saturated market you mentioned... and questioning my worth and relevance. I hate to go there, but it happens. Should I be doing sponsored videos? Should I be hiring a manager? Should I... (fill in the blank with all the other things youtubers seem to do)... I remind myself that simply being myself and putting my heart & soul into this channel is enough. I'm glad it comes through for you. As for the ideas-- I get so many WONDERFUL ideas from viewers and tend to think up a few myself at really random times- like in the shower, right before bed, in the car, etc! :D I keep them all on a list in my Notes app!! Have a great day, and thank you again!

I started a Gratitude Journal too! I saw a kit at Coles Book Store and got it for 15$ and I love doing this. It put into perspective everything I have and how grateful I am to have them including my boyfriend. One of the things I put in place is a "no buy" for eyeshadow this year. The reason was so I can focus on what is important. Showing more consideration and gratitude to my boyfriend and it feels amazing!

I loved all the shades of the new wet n wild palettes, I picked up the peach and rose one based on other peoples videos and especially the swatches but I’m finding the color payoff on the eye hard to achieve. Using primer and clean brushes I had to go back in so many times just to get the color to show up. It was disappointing but also just so different than what I’d seen in videos and so I truly believe what you said, the swatches aren’t as important as the way it shows up on the eyes.

Love keeping a gratitude journal. I started doing it last year after hearing about how gratitude makes us happier people in general because we start to take notice and look for the good in our lives and I have to completely agree with that statement. You are absolutely correct that it makes you start to notice the small things that you are grateful for that you might not have noticed before. I use to do it everyday religiously, but eventually slowed down to every couple days, but I am thinking after watching this that I might go back to doing it daily. I am quite a positive person in general, but it does make me happier and more thankful for my life. Also, I REALLY need to stop the night snacking as well. Honestly, I just eat too late at night in general. I need to move my dinner time back some and cut the snacking out and I might make some progress. Easier said than done though. lol

Emily! I restarted my gratitude journal as well. I am 46 and first did gratitude journaling in my early 20s when Oprah talked about it on her show for the first time. It completely changed my outlook and attitude on everything. I have tried to restart it a few times through out the years, but I have never been able to be as consistent with it as I was that first year. Last night at target, I actually bought a new planner/journal and I am going to do some “bullet journaling“ as well as gratitude journaling every day. I remember how positive and happy it actually made me when I did it consistently, and I have vowed to do it consistently again this year. My other big New Year’s resolution is to cook at home at least five nights a week. Six orseven nights would be even better. My daughters are 11 and 14 and we are so busy, because I also work a full-time job as a teacher. My girls actually hate eating out because we do it so much. They absolutely, Positively despise restaurant food. They are the only kids I know of who beg to eat at home. They get so angry with me when I can’t cook at home. So I have started going to the grocery store and planning meals and not only is that going to be much cheaper and much healthier, it will make my children much happier as well. for the past several years, I’ve been lucky to cook at home one night a week.🙈😳🙈😳 🙄🙄🙄 So far so good, and I’m determined to keep up with it!

Oh, but when I first started gratitude journaling in the early 90’s - when it was REALLY working for me, we were told to write TEN things a day - but for me it had the same effect...I would go throughout my day LOOKING for good things rather than noticing bad things - it truly is life-changing.

I loved this video! And I think I’m going to start doing this “grateful journaling” thing, too! I am beginning how monotonous life begins to being down my mood and how grateful I am for the little things. Thanks for the suggestion!
