This is a pre-reveal, undercover AU where Felix is Gabriel's son and Chat Noir (following the Quantic Kids concept for Miraculous). In their university years, both Marinette and Felix are still working to take down Hawk Moth. They both find separate evidence linking Gabriel's fashion company to Hawk Moth's operation and decide to secretly go undercover in his company. Marinette lands a Production Assistant job while Felix asks his father for a position. Suspicious of Felix's newfound interest in his company, Gabriel decides to hire a documentary crew as a way to keep his son in check. This is the story as told through the documentary crew's lens.

I’m not even gonna lie, I 1000% LOVE the dynamic civilian Felix and Marinette have here than in the actual show. That whole “one-sided creepy crush” trope Marinette has is only bound to get worse and worse and repetitive. And that’s not even accounting for Luka and Kagami. It’s as bad as annoying fan-service garbage anime and it’s the whole reason I quit the original show. The only reason I stay around is because the fans are infinitely better writers than the actual showrunners. The fans actually write plots, scenes, story arcs, and characters that I genuinely enjoy and get excited for. The original show had me rolling my eyes so much they literally ached after a while, giving me horrible painful headaches. Nowadays I only enjoy the show’s existence for giving actual good writers a spectacular concept they constantly mold to its fullest potential to make stuff like this. LOVE YOUR SERIES ❤❤❤❤

I love how in this AU the characters are actually trying to find hawkmoth’s identity, because that’s literally the only plausible way to beat him, instead of floundering around, fighting the villain of the week but literally doing nothing to get to the main goal of beating him. Marinette is supposed to be a smart strategist, so it amazes me how in the show they’re doing basically nothing to actually defeat hawkmoth. It was only mentioned in the show like once. I love how in this AU we’re getting straight to the good stuff 😼 this is better than the actual show 😌✌️

I really like how Felix and Chat Noir's personalities are so juxtaposed from eachother, it really shows that Felix isn't being himself when he's not Chat and also explains why Marinette doesn't immediately recognize Felix in costume. I was skeptical of taking Adrien out of the show at first, but honestly Felix has grown on me, I'm so excited to see where this AU goes!!

There’s so many things about this animation that astound me. First off, the voice acting is great, love the range Merlinus has for Felix and chat noir. The designs were on point this episode, from marinettes work attire to the duos costumes to marinettes dress, they are all so amazing. And the little details you put in are so adorable,,,,chat noir fixing up his bell the way you would fix a tie,,,,love,,,,thank you for your hard word. Take care of yourself!

@@angeldust4164 well, to be fair, I think that in the 2d version Adrien actually had Felix's personality and looks (the hairstyle, the suit and the personality) He was more like a "serious and unapproachable model student" kind of guy I don't know why they decided to make Adrien a whole new boring personality and give him an identical cousin with the old (and way more interesting) personality

The difference between Felix and Adrien is more interesting for their alternate identities as well. Adrien is already sweet and joking, so it's less of a switch when he turns into Chat Noir. Felix's Chat is roguish and looks more wild, which contrasts much more with his usual appearance and attitude, as he is usually well tempered and austere. Felix is a better representation of Chat Noir as a character concept, as the central idea of whoever is the current Chat in MLB is supposed to conform to Gabriel's vision in his daily life, and use his hero sona as a way to show more of who he really is.

If I recall, they scrapped it because it played too much into the anime "cool guy is utterly oblivious/ambivalent towards cute girl's crush" cliche. I think the reason why this AU works is because the implied backstory shows Marinette got over her crush, and is now approaching Felix as he actually is as a person, rather than just the object of her desires. Which to me is much more compelling than the canon "you're a nice guy and hot, therefore I love you" set up.

Yeah in all honesty Miraculous would have been fine with its original plot for kids with the romance and secret identities and fighting hawkmoth at some point, but then in the later seasons they decided suddenly they wanted to add in all these mature themes while still retaining the child-likeness and goofiness and it just fell apart.

@@cupicupal Same. Mind if I elaborate? I think she gets too much hate, and is a very sweet and loving person. She always tries to help others, and is quick to forgive even the likes of Lila, Chloe, and Kagami. Honestly, the good about her outweighs the bad, but that doesn't mean we don't need to see her overcome that "bad", you know? The main problem for both Mari and Chat are their crushes on Adrien and LB respectively. Mari being so obsessive that it harms her and others, and Chat being so persistent and adamant despite Ladybug saying no more than once. Fortunately, they both got some character development in the special where CN decided to accept LB's boundaries and be just friends, and Mari being willing to stop chasing after Adrien. The problem is that she chose to go the very understandable, yet wrong route of adamantly denying her feelings, which is both unhealthy and unhelpful. You don't get over someone by lying to yourself, and I feel like that was the point they were trying to make (cuz basically if they had Marinette start dating Luka immediately or find some more mature way to get over Adrien, I feel that it wouldn't have been as realistic or interesting for the character, does that make sense? XD). That, in turn, gives me hope that the next time we see Mari (whether in the Shanghai Special or season 4), she'll admit that she's still in love with Adrien, but just can't be with him because of the harm it causes both to herself and others. At the end of the NY special, though, she still seemed very confused as to what to do, so this transition still might take some time. Sorry for the rant btw, hope I made sense.

What I meant was that Allegra in this AU is already serving Chloe's purpose of a "tsundere mean girl who dislikes Marinette" and maybe Chloe won't appear in future episodes because just like how Felix replaced Adrien, Allegra replaced Chloe.

Yeah, except in the original concept Marinette had pigtails that went down to the floor and she was supposed to have these red ribbons in her hair that could change lengths. I love all the original character designs, they have way more personality than the current ones. Personally I have a higher interest in Felix than Adrien.

I am so excited to see where this story is going to go! Allegra seems to be a bit of a tsundere for Claude (her dress really was stunning). And I adored the character beats you put into Ladybug and Chat’s interactions. Obviously the animation and voice work was stunning as always. I cannot WAIT for the next part, but I understand it takes time and effort that can be difficult to come across, what with the world being what it is right now. I greatly admire you and your team’s dedication to making art in such a admittedly scary time.
