Growing up with a dysfunctional mother, this song hit home for me! We always hear about respecting your parents and people always glorify their mothers above all but to hear someone express their trauma from their mother was so refreshing and relatable to me as a teenager. This is why, in my opinion, Eminem is the greatest rapper ever.

“What even hurts me the most is you won’t admit you was wrong.” This. All an abused child needs is a validation and accountability. Abusive parents tend to deflect and blame the kid for their abusive behaviors instead of admitting they’ve done horrible things. This is why a healing can never happen. I know. My parents are the same.

I hate that people are trying to cancel him over these lyrics. He's obviously venting here as an abuse survivor, and bareing his heart here. The lyric about his wife and kid, he isn't saying it like he was proud to have thoughts like that, he's obviously hurt by even having those thoughts and is owning up to it. Trauma is a bitch and we shouldn't be judging him for trying to heal and having a hard time.

Can say as a person who we might be similar age, considering we both probably ejoyed the song when it were new. You can despise your parents, but really need a good reason to find it, not just being an angsty teenager... But I thought my parents were there for me when I needed them even as an adult. learnt they are not. havent heard from my father in months, my mother only talks to me when she wants something. we never stop being ther kids. and it absolutely HURTS when they betray you.

I remember this hitting me in a special way when I heard this in middle school. My mom is an abusive alcoholic and my dad was gone a lot. My Mom is still an alcoholic. It’s sad how people can get stuck in decades of addiction. She used to call me a worthless piece of shit almost everyday, for my sister it was stupid slut. I never finished college and was on drugs through my teens into my late 20s. I’ve lived a crazy life, ended up being homeless for awhile. I should be dead, but I just started to get my life together in my 30s. I didn’t realize how much power my parents opinions and words had in my life until I was older. For anyone out there who feels like giving up, feels worthless, or feels like a waste of life, you aren’t. You can always change things.

Marshal thank you so much for giving a voice to abused & neglected children everywhere. Can’t listen without getting chills cause it’s so relatable & emotional. It’s amazing you’ve been the best parent to your children that you never had. We ❤ you Em

@@TristanGraham-ie6un This is a fact. My "mother" chose other things over her own daughter (me). My dad raised me and he passed when I was 17. I have a beautiful 10.5 year old daughter and she knows NONE of her momma's childhood heartache.
