My mom died in 2020. When she passed part of me did as well. This song is my life story. My mom and I both got sober and I had my daughter and my mom died 2 weeks after a cancer diagnosis. My daughter got to see her grandmother 5 times. The thing that hurts is we both finally where sober together. Finally started the healing and I lost her. I showed her this song when she was in active addiction and it pissed her off a bit actually. This song just hits home on so many levels. My grandma lived a block away, we already struggled to keep lights on but managed to do so. My mom struggled with addiction and as I grew up so did I. Child services became involved. Eminem's recovery was on repeat as I went through withdrawal.. 4 years and 3 weeks later still sober! Just missing my momma 😪!

YOU SPEAK THE TRUTH MAN!! My brother would always steal all the money in the house and blame it all on me and once he had enough saved up from his job he gave the money back to me and my parents and said, " Here this is for all the money that I stole back in the young years.. I'm sorry mum and da. Can you please stop calling your daughter the thief of the family? I only blamed her because Jerry was never home and so she was always the one to blame..." I cried at that last part of him saying to stop calling me the thief and he gave me a giant bear hug and ever since that day two years ago i have become best friends with him and we always go and hang out and what not.............❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

My mom abused her medication for muscular dystrophy from the time i was 8 to when i graduated high school. She was a zombie on the couch for 10 years. My dad was in and out of prison most of my life and was never a father to me. I had no one. After graduating high school i moved away to start at a community college and i had a lot of hate towards my mom. She got sober while i was away, and around that time this song came out. This was what i needed to forgive her for not being there. I am now about to become a Physicians assistant and me and my mom have really worked on our relationship. Thank you eminem.

I cried when I heard this because it's so relevant to my life. My Dad is a drug addict and when my baby sister was born, my stepmom went to jail and my dad turned back to drugs. I became my baby sister's makeshift mother and when my Dad couldn't get a hold of himself, she went to foster care. It was the worst day of my life. And even though my Dad is still a fuck up, we're still trying with him and my baby sister is back with us. She's my favorite person in the whole world, I would do anything for her.

This was me and my best friend’s favorite song growing up although we never really new the meaning behind it as we got older we realized what it was about and obviously we still loved it. Then early 2018 my best friend was forced to either move in with his grandparents or his father who lives an hour away and doesn’t really care about him due to his moms rising drug problem. In March 2020 she sadly passed away. My best friend is only 16. I guess what I’m trying to say is don’t do drugs. I’ve seen it all first hand and it is horrible. If you read it this far I want to say thank you for your time.

Yup, the thing with my mom is, she was shot into kinda schizophrenia with booty juices, because cops were too lazy to investigate the deadly accident of my dad (I guess it was murder), so they sent a shrink to chemically lobotomize her. Took a long time to realize what happened there, I was a few months old. "They gave me vitamin injections back then..." (Her hair turned grey, digestion system ruined, mood episodes, suicide attempts, psychotic states all over the place in my childhood, I left home when I was 15, because it was unbearable.) The realization, my mom was made sick... (she never had any of the symptoms prior to this incident.) And there's not much I can do now. (Yeah, so evil, you don't want to believe it, right?) Stay away from shrinks, they make everything worse. (Seems to have happened to Em's mom, too.)

This is my 1st time hearing this record. Its sad the "redemption" song got no attention & 'Cleanin Out My Closet' wreaked havoc on airwaves & propably crushed his mothers spirit in ways he'll never know. Nonetheless, neglected children hold a ton of pain & while problematic there are many that felt a cathartic release from that record. Its a bittersweet realization to grow to find compassion despite being wronged.

Dear Marshall, You will be ranked with Homer, Virgil, Dante, and Shakespeare. When the rise and fall of American culture is someday recorded in history books, they will say that one poet captured all that was both great and terrible of our country and of our times. You will be the art that is cherished and revered and passed forward from generation to generation, jealously guarded against loss. Your work sublimates music and language and transcends even what you, perhaps, aimed to achieve. You are undoubtedly and undeniably the greatest of all time, and if anyone suggests otherwise, let's just agree to disagree. Your art is one of the finer things in life, and it communicates to the heart and brings happiness and even tears of joy to the listener. I am grateful that I did not live and die before your time, lest I lived a life deprived of your poetry. Thank you for working tirelessly. Please do not ever stop.

Not one rapper sense 98' was not influenced by this man. Eminem is and always will be the favorite rapper hip hop will ever produce. Some may seem better, but show me one rapper with the multi-syllables, story telling, wordplay, controversial lyrics, commercial and underground success and given respect by any artist. I could keep going, but only those with a vast enough understanding of hip hop will understand. Only those who watched hip hop grow up to become Eminem, now hip hop is old and has dementia.

Like I've been hurt before, by girls I thought I loved and people I thought were my friends, but nobody's ever hurt me like his mom hurt him so if he can forgive her, I guess I can forgive anybody from my past. Remind of me of my childhood with my mom. Left the home at 15years old. But as you get older and you mature you realize we were all victims.

“But I’d have flipped every mattress, every rock and desert cactus, own a collection of maps and follow my kids to the edge of the atlas, someone ever moved them from me that you coulda bet your asses, if I had to come down the chimney dressed as Santa, kidnap em.” Pure love for his daughters. Respect Em for this song and this line. ❤️💖

This song makes me think of my mom, she left me to raise my siblings for a man and drugs, she disowned me at the age of 15, I was so angry, I’ve said some things I know I’ll never take back, and she said some things she can never take back either, but deep down in my heart I just want my mom back, i miss her every now and then, whenever I see all these other kids with their parents I feel empty ngl

I can't even imagine how hard it must have been, nor do I have any right to make any comment on your private life, but I want to say, please forgive yourself, & your mom..Love yourself & her.. You deserve a great life, & you will get it...It will be good soon... It's hard, but please don't lose hope...I pray that you will get your mom soon, please don't lose hope.. You're not alone.. I am sending you so much love & blessings, I can at least pray for you.. Sending you virtual hugs ...Thanks & Love 🙏🏻
