Eminem claimed Hailie’s Song originally featured the vocal melody from The Beatles song While My Guitar Gently Weeps but clearance difficulties mean it probably won’t ever see release in that form. Eminem said "I wasn't going to use it but I played it for a few people and they really liked it. A few of them cried actually, so I said, 'Fuck it, I'll put it out.' The original version was an interpolation of George Harrison's While My Guitar Gently Weeps. Eminem also said "From what I understand, he heard it before he passed and liked it, He was going to allow it. I don't understand the political side but his wife has control of the music now and she said no, so I had to re-sing it all and redo the song." It was Dr. Dre who convinced Eminem to include Hailie's Song on The Eminem Show. Dr. Dre Played the song for two of his female friends and when they cried, Dr. Dre was convinced that it should be included on Eminem's album. So true. My younger brother & I have had many arguments over the years when he gets pissy about his lack of relationship with his three oldest kids. He uses the ‘woe is me…’ & ‘well they don’t want anything to do with me.’ I’ve explained to him that HE, as the adult… as the parent… needs to keep trying. Those kids are angry because he never attempted to have anything to do with them. He didn’t contact them at all when their mom died. He & I had a major blow up when I found out his daughter called him asking if he would buy her cap & gown for her high school graduation. He told her no & basically hung up on her. She’s his oldest. It wasn’t easy for her to ask him for help. Even my husband verbally jumped him over that. His daughter had her cap & gown. She was beautiful
