I definitely wouldn't say it's the point of comedy as a whole, but when it comes to all the comedy movie classics and the shit they try once in a while today, that is the point. An absurd plot line with increasingly absurd rising action and punch lines leading to a completely absurd and unbelievable climax. Maybe the friends "break up", they make up to fight the bad guys or get the girl or whatever, then after it's all over they go out for drinks. Not supposed to be believable. The point of comedy movies especially is to ESCAPE reality. Some do it well, and some are shit. Personally, I enjoy this movie.
