There's a few different sides to Eminem. There's Marshall Mathers; The man, the father. Eminem; the entertainer, the joker. Then there's Slim Shady. He's the shock factor. He's the angry one who says the outlandish things, things that he says specifically to get a rise out of people. The more emotional songs are Marshall Mathers. The playful, kind of funny ones are Eminem and the songs that make your jaw drop in disbelief of what he just said are Slim Shady. Lately, you don't see Slim Shady as much. After almost dying, and being found by his daughter, that kind of put things into perspective for him. His newer music is more Marshall Mathers with Eminem in the passenger seat. Slim Shady is basically asleep in the back seat. He comes out when he's needed but he's not driving anymore.

Em was the master back then. His rapping was just as good back then as it is on his newer stuff. The only difference is his older stuff was so natural sounding that you could be fooled into thinking it was more simplistic. And his newer stuff may sound more difficult, but that is because his delivery is more forced. Em used to be smooth as butter. But he was still rhyming three and four syllables at a time. He's been doing it since day one.

This is the track that made me "get" Eminem and made me appreciate his previous album even more. He'd been getting backlash for the lyrics on the Slim Shady LP and being accused of being a misogynist. So what does he do? He writes this and makes it the first song on the new album. It was a fuck you to the critics but more than that, it was him saying that everyone was taking this shit way too seriously. Going "This is who you think I am? Well let me play the part to the extreme and let's see who gets the joke."

Infinite sucks....the music beats suck and the subject matter isn't much relatable. Only a select few tracks from infinite are relatable to the majority of listeners. Most of his Infinite tracks are just rapping fast about crazy and absurd things....basically just "Slim Shady" thematics. But, I know not everyone has the same likes/dislikes as I do. So I can't be too hard on those who do enjoy Em's Infinite material. I personally enjoy Em's more relatable content, heartfelt content, serious content, and aggressive content (his disses, etc.)

That's Eminem's Slim Shady persona. Each of his three separate personalities have different concepts. Slim Shady is funny, violent shock content. Marshall Mathers is personal, life story telling and Eminem is lyrical and bar heavy. Slim Shady made him famous but I think he's been trying for a while now to leave that part of him behind.
