The fact that this guy talked about how eminems murder fatasy songs were masterclasses in rap, but talked about how badly the impact of Kims radio show appearances impacted marshall, makes me upset. Neither of them were innocent, but Marshall talking like that publically for all those years about Kim *absolutely* means she can go talk about her experiences as well.

Did you even watch the video? Seriously? Kims appreance on radio shows did impact eminem negatively. It's not a opinion or him saying his mind. It's a literal documented *fact.* How is that biased? And is he not allowed to like eminems music? He didn't say he liked it because of its plot about Killing Kim. He said he liked it because of how perfectly eminem could portray a story in a rap. And how it was revolutionary for its time. It wasn't part of the video, he was simply just saying why he *personally* liked the song. There is no bias in this video. And really no reason it should, "make you upset"

There's a lot of passive sexism to this story. And I'm not saying it's even intentional. From the beginning of the video, Kim is casually described as abusive before giving any examples of physical, verbal, sexual, or emotional violence. Outside of the potentially bias opinion of an unreliable narrator, Debbie Mathers, who described her as manipulative and toxic but not abusive. Then, describes Eminem's vivid, gory, step by step death threats through music as disturbing but genius in their musicianship. Chalked up as a hard pill to swallow - not abuse. Without self reflection, this sexist narrative building has real world consequences. I would really caution against this.

Their relationship is a classic example of the tragic pattern that people with abusive and neglectful parents are doomed to repeat unless they identify, address and heal their parental attachment wounds. We are attracted to a person based on our attachment styles, that’s why people who attract toxic relationships tend to be stuck in a subconscious cycle of toxicity. If you have a traumatic past, or had/have abusive, neglectful parents, then I plead with you all to look into your attachment style and work with a counsellor and do the inner work to stop the cycle. Eminem was attracted to someone who was as broken as him, and especially because she was able to help him mirror the toxic relationship dynamic he had with his mother. It’s a classic story. We could never win over the love of that distant parent that was never satisfied, no matter how hard we tried to earn their love. So we are attracted to emotionally unavailable people who will re enact that dynamic with us, however, what most people stuck in that cycle don’t realise is that they too are emotionally unavailable. If you tend to get into relationships where there is a runner and a chaser, you are both emotionally unavailable. I realised this after my last relationship and spent 4.5 years doing as much inner work to heal as possible. Now I’m attracted to and have attracted someone who isn’t running. The work is lifelong, but it’s worth it. If you are dealing with attachment wounds, it will get better just don’t give up. Keep working on yourself no matter how hard it gets! God bless

Crazy how your perspective changes over time. When "Kim" and "'97 Bonnie & Clyde" dropped, I could totally relate to what he was saying as an angsty teen. As an adult? Disgusting. And I have to give Kim props for hanging in there after being called out/threatened so publicly. Did he care how that'd affect their daughter? Those songs are forever, unlike a temporarily painful divorce. Seems he only has the guts to punch down on women since the pushback from gays happened & we all know he'd never dare say anything race-based in the rap game. There *was* that time he made a rap about a Black woman that was both racist AND sexist. 🤮

Kim disrespecting him is toxic and not okay, but it’s nowhere near the same as what Eminem did to her in my opinion and the fact that this video is clearly on Eminem’s side rather than painting a fully unbiased picture of the toxic relationship is gross.

All of that is relatable to millions of people worldwide from every race, country and social class I.e poor to rich across the globe that’s why he’s an incredible story teller and relatable artist staying no.1 in the charts. You can’t pick one horrorcore theme to discredit him as not relatable and music is therapy for him the song isn’t real he obviously didn’t kill Kim or act it out he was just expressing his deep hurt & rage during an abusive relationship not a normal relationship. There many clips showing that he was verbally abusive calling her fat and worthless to her face and whole albums threating physical abuse and homicide, not only Kim but including an innocent 4 year old. Even going so far as to tattoo. But it's all Kim's fault because she didn't support him going on the road cheating on her and wishing her death to his adoring fans. The worst Kim did was to "cheat" on him twice after he did so dozens of times her and saying that he was bad in bed. Maybe Kim keeping his child from him was a bit too far but why would she want her daughter around him when he treats her so badly. I don't understand how people can see Kim as the villian.

kind of disappointed (but not surprised) how biased the youtuber is about there relationship. describing only kim as the "toxic" and "vitriolic" member of the relationship, even after telling us about em's violent outbursts, infidelity and emotional abuse. shes the toxic one, shes the one ruining this crap relationship that should not exist. i'm not at all saying kim is innocent, but rap fanboys sure love to imply that eminem was never abusive. hell you point out kim being inconsistent as a reason not to trust her word, but brush over the fact em was also inconsistent with his retelling of events. i appreciate the hard work put into this video and i did enjoy watching it, but i couldn't ignore thus issue.

My favorite part of the video is when he was describing the lyrics of the Bonnie and Clyde type song Eminem wrote about k!ll!ng his baby mama and hiding the evidence with his daughter, and after we are given the whole gruesome summary of the lyrics, he basically said “ yeah the song is pretty rough, but the storytelling here is just so incredible!” I don’t think I’ve ever laughed so hard in my life 😂 like… the criminal threat is bad, but did you see the use of his vocabulary and how engaging he made it for the audience?!

Poverty f$&@! people up, it is so damaging. Of course this couple was doomed. They both had childhood trauma, grew up dirt poor, never had stability and came from families struggling with addiction. I wish we were able to hear more from Kim’s perspective, instead of this being one sided.
@esrblgn
@esrblgn Жыл бұрын
ok let's get real for a second, eminem's mental instability was probably the biggest reason why they could never get it right. if we summarize chronologically; (i accidentally wrote an essay lol) infinite is written mostly before hailie's birth so it seems until that time kim and him were relatively stable, and em was actually thinking they would get married, he'd be a family man and all that, which was apparently his ideal life. but when hailie’s birth and failiure of infinite caused severe financial problems leading to frustration their relationship broke down. em went into depression and kim didn't show him enough support and patience (partly with understandable reasons tbh, there was no guarantee that em would be able to provide by rapping + he was in a bad mental state) which made him resent her. since being a bad father is eminem's biggest insecurity her not letting him see hailie did the most damage. he probably felt terrible about himself thinking he couldn't keep the family together. then when he got famous he lost himself (possibly because he had multiplied his drug use) and wanted to get revenge for all this. he for sure thought now that he was rich he could do anything to her, tho he didn't realize that taking it out on music was incredibly public and the public cared about what he said. when kim attempted suic + he got arrested because of her, he likely felt like she was trying to get revenge by ruining his career so the relationship even further deteriorated. but after his case concluded i think em stopped being bitter, still didn't realize his faults but maybe kinda felt sympathy for her cause she was pregnant? anyway, after that he started saying divorce matured him and that he's a better person now. i believe that was the case around 2002, he also stopped irresponsible behavior like taking drugs (well except prescription pills). then something happened that made him resent her again, tho he'd learned his lesson and didn't reflect anything publicly. kim not accepting treatment for addiction and running away, not taking any responsibility and putting them all into em's shoulders angered him. he was at this point overwhelmed by fame and work anyway + hailie was really sad about all this and of course seeing her like that also upsets em. but when kim came back and was good again, he probably thought that the kids needed stability and also that he was ready for the family life he always wanted. and given the lyrics of when i'm gone he was much more self-aware of his faults so he tried it again. but his own addiction kicked in this time + somewhere (when he got mad at her again for something about nathan?) he realized his resentment for her was never gonna go away and they never would become the stable family he dreamed of. and as far as we know that was it for the relationship. in conclusion, eminem is a lot more dysfunctional than kim (tho she is toxic as hell too, i actually researched a bit and legit every witness confirms that) but post 2002 he seems to have worked harder for the family than her and pulled himself much better. personally, i blame debbie more than anyone who made toxicity a normal part of em and kim's life, fucked up his mind with abuse and caused insecurities in all his relationships, while demonizing and putting the blame on kim.

Despite their relationship being toxic, I think Kim and Em genuinely love each other. It just couldn't work as they both had troubled childhood and it took them both a long time to come to terms with the issues they had from their respective childhoods. It's clear that Em has matured as he acknowledged that he wasn't a good partner to Kim and he's now more positive about Kim in interviews/songs.

It’s astonishing how much the general public and press dragged Kanye through the mud for his divorce with Kim and his mean comments about Pete Davidson yet Eminem’s treatment of his Kim has hardly affected how people feel about him. I’ve met up to 10 people who have harsh things to say about Kanye’s treatment of Kim during the divorce but not a single one of these people will ever knock Eminem for being a million times worse. Eminem literally built a career out of bullying her. Since Eminem was the famous person in the relationship I think people will always take his side and I think this truly shows the difference between marrying someone who has fame and a platform vs someone who doesn’t have either. It’s that or some subtle racism
@blymperopoulou5410
@blymperopoulou5410 11 ай бұрын
I think that people are different now than back then. Furthermore, even though Eminem rapped about horrible things people could always differentiate his artistic liberties because he used an alter ego aka slim shady. If I’m being fair I can see both sides at this situation. I think they were both toxic but the way he dragged her publicly was horrible and extremely shocking to her too. I mean after all they grew up together and she definitely trusted him. However, in their personal lives I believe he has redeemed himself. Both him and her were drug addicts and alcoholics but I guess since he got sober and even before he supported her quite a few times in her personal struggles both financially and with the kids that he adopted such as her niece and her daughter from another man. If he had indeed been so vicious to her as he appeared in his raps he wouldn’t adopt her daughter especially as she wasn’t his blood and she was a product of her cheating on him. My guess is that both of them struggle with mental health issues but are doing the best they can.
