@Sasatern4 жыл бұрын
@Sheronn W. Technically, it's spoken out of Marshall's perspective. That's true. However, by virtue of the fact that he is telling 2 stories at the same time (A: Concerts, being Nervous and killing the show B: Mandalay Bay Shooting), you can also see it a little differently: You are allowed to think that the concert version is out of Marshall's perspective, however the perspective of the shooter, while describing the actions and ways of thinking Paddock had, is an alter ego appearance of Slim Shady commiting mass murder(since he's talking out of his own perspective) etc. This of course is only an interpretation. You can't ever fully know what Em intends because sometimes it's so complex and deep.

I don't wanna be alone, I don't wanna be I don't wanna be alone in the darkness I don't wanna be alone in the darkness I don't wanna be alone in the darkness anymore (Hello darkness, my old friend) Here I am, alone again Can't get out of this hole I'm in It's like the walls are closin' in You can't help me, no one can I can feel these curtains closin' I go to open 'em But something pulls 'em closed again (Hello darkness, my old friend) Feels like I'm loathing in Las Vegas Haven't got the vaguest why I'm so lost But I'd make you this small wager If I bet you I'll be in tomorrow's paper Who would the odds favor? (Hello darkness, my old friend) I'm so much like my father, you would think that I knew him I keep pacin' this room, Valium Then chase it with booze, one little taste it'll do Maybe I'll take it and snooze, then tear up the stage in a few (Hello darkness, my old friend) Fuck the Colt 45, I'ma need somethin' stronger If I pop any caps, it better be off of vodka Round after round after round, I'm gettin' loaded That's a lot of shots, huh? (Double entendre) (Hello darkness, my old friend) And I don't wanna be alone in the darkness I don't wanna be alone in the darkness I don't wanna be alone in the darkness anymore (Hello darkness, my old friend) Now I'm starin' at the room service menu off a Benzo I can hear the music continue to crescendo I can see the whole fuckin' venue from my window That's when you know you're schizo (Hello darkness, my old friend) 'Cause I keep peakin' out the curtain from the hotel The music is so loud, but it's almost as though I don't hear no sound, I should get ready for the show now Wait is this the whole crowd? I thought this shit was sold out (Hello darkness, my old friend) But it's only the opening act, it's early, don't overreact Then something told me relax and just hope for the show to be packed Don't wanna hit the stage before they fill each row to the max 'Cause that'd be totally wack, you can't murder a show nobody's at But what if nobody shows? Panic mode 'bout to snap and go motherfuckin' wacko at any second 'Bout to cancel the show, just as fans below rush the entrance Plan is a go to wreck shit, cameras in all directions The press is 'bout to go apeshit, bananas on all the networks Commando with extra clips, I got ammo for all the hecklers I'm armed to the teeth, 'nother Valium fall off the bed Hit the ground and crawl to the dresser Alcohol on my breath as I reach for the Scope I'm blackin' out, I'm all out of meds With them benzodiazepines gone Now it's just magazines sprawled out on the floor Fuck the media, I'm goin' all out, this is war (Hello darkness, my old friend) And I don't wanna be alone in the darkness (yeah) I don't wanna be alone in the darkness I don't wanna be alone in the darkness anymore People start to show up, time to start the show up It's 10:05 PM and the curtain starts to go up And I'm already sweatin' but I'm locked and loaded For rapid fire spittin' for all the concert-goers Scopes for sniper vision, surprise from out of nowhere As I slide the clip in from inside the hotel Leanin' out the window, going Kaiser Soze Finger on the trigger, but I'm a licensed owner With no prior convictions, so law says sky's the limit So my supplies infinite, strapped like I'm a soldier Got 'em hopping over walls and climbing fences Some of 'em John Travolta, stayin' alive by inches (Hello darkness, my old friend) Cops are knockin', oh, fuck, thought I blocked the entrance Guess show time is over, no suicide note Just a note for target distance But if you'd like to know the reason why I did this You'll never find a motive, truth is I have no idea I am just as stumped, no signs of mental illness Just tryin' to show ya the reason why we're so fucked 'Cause by the time it's over, won't make the slightest difference (Hello darkness, my old friend) And I don't wanna be alone in the darkness I don't wanna be alone in the darkness I don't wanna be alone in the darkness anymore (Hello darkness, my old friend) Yeah, we do have some breaking news from the Associated Press right now Just gonna bring that up, because we are hearing We have told you that the shooter is dead And we have just learned that police are saying that the Las Vegas shooter killed himself That is the bartender there at Mandalay Bay And I believe we're going to hear more from here Yeah, we just wanted to share that with you You can see behind me here, this is what he looks like Now, we did just tell you that police just earlier Metro was telling us that he killed himself inside the hotel room Good morning, as we come to you on the air We bring you breaking news, a school shooting (crushing news) Another school shooting (eleven people dead) Reports of a number of fatalities and this time in Santa Fe, Texas That is just outside Galveston (that no one saw coming) A mass shooting a Southern California school We are following breaking news this morning Another deadly school shooting This one in Santa Fe, Texas, that's just outside Houston Twenty-six killed and twenty other wounded (Houston affiliate is reporting) At least nine people have been killed (somber words, making it the deadliest shooting in Texas history) Five people dead The attacker opening fire outside the church during a morning worship session He unloaded the chaotic and terror, making his way inside This, a deadly shooting at a food festival in Northern California Three people, so far, dead Breaking news (fifteen wounded) A deadly shooting at a newspaper office in Annapolis (a gunman opened fire) Newly released surveillance video shows the moments leading up to a mass shooting In Dayton, Ohio Authorities say the shooter

The day after MTBMB dropped, I was so impressed with every song, I had my 85 year old mother listen to this song (Darkness) and while she watched the video. Keep in mind, my mother has never EVER been fond of rap but that apparently is no longer the case. Just yesterday when she told me how often she listens to this song, that was a memorable moment and I found myself sporting a huge smile. I also discovered her car radio is now set to rap music only. If you knew my mother, you would understand why this is noteworthy and why I wanted to share the same with others. Plus, I learned there is no set age limit when it comes to the enjoyment of rap music. Thank you Marshall.

I even talk to her a lot about Proof. Last night she yelled for me to come into her living room because Marshall was performing at the Oscars. Hi Eminem! You are amazing! And you wanna know something? Back in 2016 at my old high school, one of my teachers who was only 35 years old (at that time), said to my face with no hesitation that have "eyes of a terrorist" in front the whole class because i'm Egyptian. She literally doesn't regret until now what she did. Of course it made me angry, sad and it harmed me. But your songs like Darkness, Not Afraid and Guts Over Fear, made me a better person today. It also made me realize that she's worthless. And also, that's what made me become a Guinness World Record holder 5 times in 2021. Thank you Eminem for NOT giving up even when life was hard and to make everyone realize how much of an artist you are. I clearly see why you have 50M subs on KZbin. SENSATIONAL!

This track is truly emotional. I appreciate Eminem making this track and I really believe that this song might stop a massacre. We need to address this massacre issue we have in America through art. Why? Art inspires people. Especially in America, Hollywood is the reason why Americans behave the way they do. We have popular rap artists who mostly rap about sex, money, and drugs, (don't make me start listing names) and I really believe that because of this, America is what it is. If the artist who inspired us rapped or were singing about positives (Songs like this one, Twenty One pilots, Rhianna, and etc.) we would truly have less issues in this country. If we want change, we need our inspirations and icons to start leading us towards the right direction because at the end, people are just followers who are crying for leaders.

This song and album is so damn good. Everything has been so crazy and unreal these past years that I haven't really had a chance to reflect on any of it, truly. It just keeps coming. It's like if you had a family member die every other day, you'd never have a chance to grieve and that shit would twist you up mentally. This album has caused me to reflect back on what's happened and actually feel something for it all. I was shocked and mad but didn't have time to wrap my head or heart around what actually happened in Vegas before being bombarded by another horrific event or headline such as another school shooting, ISIS attack or the release of a man made virus that would turn us all against each other, and then I listened to this song, and it all came back and hit me properly and I remembered I was human and still care about other people, no matter what. I don't even know what else to say, I can't really explain it. This entire album is just fucking amazing and brings me back to me.
