Everytime I ask my two boys questions like "what are you doing?" "What would you like?" There's like a small hope they will answer, but at the same time I think I would be scared shirtless if they suddenly answered back. Hope Moose is feeling better soon! He is such a fluffball!!

I'm so sorry to hear about Moose 💔 He's still looking good for an old man and he is well loved. I had to take one of my young girl rats to the vet back in March when the state of emergency was announced here. My vet is always kind and amazing with my rats, and this trip was still great for her. I got to discuss thoroughly over the phone what I suspected to be wrong and what her symptoms were while they took her to be looked over. Even though it was a sudden appointment, I didnt receive any emergency fee. She did end up passing away, and losing a pet during this time has made it even more difficult. I'm glad you have the chance to spend as much time as you can with Moose, and he must know how much you care and how you've tried to get him what he needs. I hope the meds make him feel much better ❤

You are such a good pet parent. I’m sorry Moose is having a hard time. Thank you for sharing your vet journey. I’v had not so great experiences with local vets and usually have to travel too. Losing a rat is so hard and I wish I’d had someone to mentally prepare me. I bet it’s still hard for someone as seasoned as you.

Same thing happened to me, a doubled £35 consultation for a five minute video chat where we couldn't hear each other :/ my boy is better now and that's all that matters. But it's certainly an added strain none of us need right now. Hope you and Moose are doing ok.

Just a quick tip Emi, analog hydrometers are not very accurate and tend to deteriorate quickly. I'd recommend the Acurite thermometer/hydrometer, it's a digital device that monitors both temperature and humidity in the enclosure and is much more durable than that plastic thing you got. Can't wait to see the new pet!

My rat is ill too with MYC and we give him 3 different meds. It's literally draining ... but the other thing is that we were meant to get a trio of rats from a breeder yet due to the virus we can't. so if he dies I'm not sure what to do with my other boy. ❤ moose will always be in our hearts❤

I completely understand your struggles with finding a nearby exotic vet. My vet is an hour round-trip as well, but it is totally worth the drive to have that peace of mind. My rats and I are sending happy thoughts to you and Moose 🐀❤

Hi emi! How are your gorgeous little ratties? Hope they're all doing well. Moose is an old boy, but he's not been benched for now, thank goodness. Tell me about Poundland. funny enough it's been open around my way all through the lockdown. I know the vets are guilty of major extortion when you bring him in for anything. I had an operation cost me the best part of £660! And it was a minor operation too. I have to say, you have really brightened my days during lockdown and I love your style of videos. The new camera really captures your good side and makes you look fantastic! Really appreciate everything you do.

£45 is $85 AUD and that is the average consultation price where I live, I’m very lucky that my vet actually cuts the consultation price in half for me

We took my one mouse to the vet when I got her from the breeder bc her fur was puffed up and she was wheezing she was on a medicine but still wheezes but acts perfectly healthy and yes I know they're really good at hiding illness she still has been with me for several months but is still fine I think it's just something genetic bc I've seen better breeders than the one that I got her from I would've gotten her and her sisters from another breeder but the lady left work early to come and meet with me she's actually biggest mouse out of my 4 😂

I had same issue with my parrot. I'm super picky with vets as I've had some say that not worth the money to treat or telling me I am being silly. Do not agree with charging more!!! Although a consult for me usually at least £45 for anything exotic.

In America small animals cost more than cats and dogs for vet appointments. In my area just an exam costs about $60 while my cat's exam fee is only $35.

I’ve had to take my hammie to the vets twice in the last month and I just write her symptoms down on a note and put it on her box so the vet can see them instead of me having to try and communicate to them across the car park :,) just thought I’d mention it as it saved me a ton of stress trying to put my point across

We had to take my little rat to vet as she got into a really bad fight and cut her stomach really badly and the experience felt horrible and just heart breaking not being able to be there with my baby. Hope moose gets better ❤️

I’m so sorry to hear about Moose’s condition. I know it’s not the same, but I lost my cat to congestive heart failure. Although, we found it incredibly late unfortunately and there were no treatment options left for how advanced it was. I hope Moose starts to feel better.

So sorry to hear that, it's hard to lose a pet that has been around for a while. I think we've caught Moose's too late unfortunately, they're very good at hiding the symptoms and often they're symptoms of other things, I wish i had known a few months ago so I could've started treatment then :(

Emiology I totally understand that feeling. It’s been 2 years and I still feel the guilt of not being able to recognize the signs. But even just through watching your channel you’ve loved Moose so incredibly and given him a life all animals deserve. I’m sorry because i know this time is hard for you. Just remember to love him extra during this time, and remember to also love yourself during this time as well. It’s easy to feel the guilt and get swept into those feelings. You’ve done all that you can and more. Sending positive thoughts to you.

That’s all so cheap 😭 I pay 70-90$ for the visit and then price of anything they do on top of that (last visit was 200$ for fecal matter test and then meds to get good bacteria back into the gut)

Just for your info Emi - don't get too excited about Northampton reptile Centre, their website is a different kettle of fish to the store. None of the deals and sales apply in store(!!) and it's super small, a fraction of the online stock, plants covered in fungus gnats, I made the trip there and honestly it wasn't worth it unless it's on your doorstep. If you're going there I'd advise you at least combine it with a trip to their second store, Northampton reptile and fish centre (surprise surprise, same thing plus fish) which is like 3 minutes away. That's within a garden centre and they also have some cute pet poultry, a goat and other stuff to look around at. They're nice stores but just didn't live up to the finesse of the website ☺️ (just call me reptile TripAdvisor 😂) stay safe! xo

That’s one of my favourite garden centres and I love going to look at the animals there! I forget that’s one of their other stores but I’ve never been in their main one. I go back to visit family often and I keep meaning to have a look just to get rid of my curiosity but I’m never that end of town 😂

you should get digital hygrometers for all ur reptiles and whatever the new pet is. the dial ones suck and often are inaccurate. theyre decently cheap on amazon! i bought three for abt 20 bucks i think.

I went to get my ferrets injections to take her out of season a few weeks ago (after about 2 weeks of calling up and being told it's not a necessity and 'a ferret isnt worth us getting coronavirus', if you dont know female ferrets can easily DIE if not taken out of season) and it was almost £30 more than normal. I dont understand how they're allowed to just pick prices. Got my fingers crossed for moose 💕

I need help, I just adopted two rats with almost 2 years. They are used to having a very plain enclosure, I added two hammocks and some shower hoops for confort and access but they just seem to be hidding at the bottom of the cage. They are super friendly with us, so I don't know how and what I should be doing to make them more comfortable and start exploring more as rats do. Help! Thank you
