Actually, out of all the economy classes I've flown, the worst experiences have been on emirates. They pack in way too many people for what the cabin can hold, it was hot and people were fainting. The seats were ridiculously narrow, particularly for broader people. If you want good economy, fly Singapore or Etihad or even Malaysian airlines.

I've only paid for economy but I have travelled once in business. The company I was flying with messed up with my seat and there was no vacant seat for me. So the only solution was to put me in business, with no extra charge since it was their fault. Nice comment. I never purchased a Business ticket and probably never will. I once got bumped up to what is probably the best Business class in the world (Emirates A380, more space than BA first) and I'll never forget how amazing it was. Yet I'd never pay for it myself. Long haul economy doesn't have to be a nightmare. Choose your seat wisely, be friendly to the crew and you'll see yourself with plenty of space and enough whiskey to arrive at the destination just as happily. ;) You're right, we shouldn't forget that it's an absolute privilege to be able to fly anywhere in the world, no matter which seat.

I'll get up to walk to the back of the plane and have a beer, no one bothers me and i'm always very nice to the crew. I hate flying though, have a terrible fear of it.

Only two recommendations: Search for "special" seats (for example on the 787, there are some seats in the very back where it's 2-4-2 instead of 3-4-3 and there is a lot of space) and always register yourself on the airline's frequent flyer program and board as one of the last people (massively increased chance of upgrade). Good luck and remember, flying is the safest way of transport :)

I went on a German plane called “Lufthansa” from Montreal to Munich, we went on business class and it was literally first class from this video. When I saw the first class in the plane it was like a mini house in there.

Challenges for you to do: - check into a first class flight around 1 pm wearing pyjamas - if you can get another guy with you into a first class lounge, ask the first eco guy you can find if he wants to go with you - do a first class long haul without eating anything on-plane (drinks allowed) - fly first without entering lounges or using any airport benefits beforehand

Another great multi-seat review on one flight. I felt sorry for the guy in Economy, I am one of those 6ft6 and broad build guys that jjust about fits in an economy chair, sitting next to me takes some of your personal space away. Great product review. Love to see a 3 or 4 way comparison of one route, but 4 differeny airlines all flying within 30-60 minutes of each other, and compare what you get for your money. You can communicate via Wifi to compare notes on progress. Idea?
