Arbiters: You can trade with the ACTIVE player when/before they're fighting a battle, but not the opposition! This is because only the ACTIVE player can initiate a deal. Source: LRR 94.1 "During the active player’s turn, they may resolve up to one transaction with each of their neighbors"
