agreed sadly they ended up with such a pathetically unrealistic choice of venue here. "Desert world devoid of water and greenery" my ass any race evolved there. Now if they were more akin to earth deserts I could see it, like just cacti with all water well underground and the like though sometimes surfacing temporarily through springs. This I could believe. But its just too unrealistic to have life exist at all on a world without water when it needs water to live. Its a pathetic joke. Like what did they even eat? meat? ok then what did that meat eat? other meat? ok but what about the meat after that meat? its not sustainable you need plants in there somewhere.

This Twilight Imperium series is really convincing me to buy the game. I’ve never played a board game anywhere near this scale and it looks amazing. I think if I do buy it and play it with my friends I’m gonna play the Hacan since capitalist space lions is just to cool of a concept to pass up. Anyone played this game before? Recommendations for how to play a good Hacan game?

I own it and really enjoy it but it does take about an hour or so to teach it to someone and several hours to play. I’ve heard tell of some people finishing a game in 4 hours but I’ve never seen it, I’m happy if a game only takes 6 or 7 hours. Again I really like it but it’s important to know that it is a huge time commitment. As for playing Hacan just focusing on trading with other players is a pretty good way to go, Hacan has enough commodities to make money off of every other player and they’ve definitely got the tools to be the wealthiest player at the the table. Just make sure you don’t look too rich because if everyone else just decides not to trade with you it can really shut down your game, fortunately if you play with 5 or 6 people you can almost always find at least one person that’ll break ranks and just be like “but Hacan’s gonna make me sooooo much money if I trade with them.” I know their are several how to play Twilight Imperium 4th Edition videos on KZbin so maybe check one of those out and see if you’re still interested.

The good of the hacan is that they have money to do any strategy you want, but i think that focus in only one long term strategy is better than grow in multiple areas. Just take care because you can get too rich too fast and averyone will just stop trading with you

One problem with the game is it is kinda hard to get to the table with many groups but if you can get people to sit down and play it is really fun. one of the cool things about it is how the different factions interact with each other so be aware of what the other factions at the table can do.

@@carsonsugden9807 Wellllll, it 'helps' if basically all the players are people who are busy with work, family, kids, their house etc. Actually being able to pick a date for a game is a planning nightmare, but once you get it set up it's pretty much set in concrete because nobody is able to 'just finish it tomorrow'.

Now this is something of a first for me. A sci-fi felinoid species, that AREN'T mindlessly aggressive warriors. Basically, the Hacan are what you get if the Kzinti from the Nearspace series or the Kilrathi from Wing Commander, decided commerce and trade were better options to settling conflicts than "Scream and Leap"

As far as I can tell, the Hacan were vassals of the Emperor but when the Sol rebelled against the Throne, Hacan fleets stood by their side against the Lazax.

The Sol Federation fired the first shots against the Barony of Letnev who were allied with the Emperor and started the war. The Hacan threw their lot in with the humans against the Emperor.

@@legionofyuri the barony wasn’t pro emperor either, their blockade of Quann was to express some autonomy and displeasure over centuries of sanctions. The humans snapped first and attacked the Baron’s fleet, but the Lazax response pissed everyone off and many major factions revolted or withdrew their support for the Empire.

Hacan is great fun. Not a bad faction for new players either, you get two carriers, can take gravity drive on first tech, and everyone will want to trade with you (although you should make sure you understand how trade works before you start)
