Finally a Premium Economy cabin where it is actually premium. Other airlines just offer slightly bigger seats but you get all the same stuff from regular economy including the same meals. Glad to see Emirates make it a real difference.

That's what passengers need. Extra leg room in minimum cost. If they wanted other luxury. They would choose business class. Airlines must keep the price of premium economy low. Because Price sensitive economy class travelers are the target market for premium economy. They need premium economy for comfort. Business class travelers don't seek premium economy as they can afford business class.

Standard economy should be like this. And premium could be low cost lie flat seats. ( no fancy food etc ). Also airlines should start weighing passengers based on total weight ( their body plus luggage weight ).

Emirates, I'm very happy to see that. The general glamour slowly disappeared in aviation after the 80's, I'd say... And I'm very glad to see that Emirates is improving its premium economy class to bring the glamour "back".

The glamour didn't disappear, it's still there in first class. There only was a not so glamorous economy class added, as passengers were asking for lower fares, what led to more seats per squaremeter and a no frills product.

They’ve had this on routes to LHR for about 6 months plus. You couldn’t purchase an upgrade but as a gold skywards member I got it free 4 flights in a row. It’s definitely worth the upgrade from economy but you wouldn’t trade down from business. All in all though a great product.

Definitely would give premium economy a try. I normally travel business class on long flights over 6hrs and Economy for less than 5hrs. Emirates premium economy has a nice balance so would definitely try this for a 3hr-5hr long flight.

So long as you have 3x the price of the economy ticket to do it. Many years ago First class (which was on par with Singapore-air premium economy) was 1.5x the price of economy class. Now it is 3x.

I’ve traveled Economy EVERY time I’ve been on Emirates, and the experience, from even the first time I flew with the airline, was amazing! Of course, you have more limited options in the economy, and the seats are more cramped up (since they structure their seating in a plane in the economy as a 3 - 4 - 3 seat configuration. But it is still great. In my eyes, if you compare Emirates economy to another international airline, economy class in Emirates will seem like Premium economy or maybe even first class, depending on the airline you compare it to.

In the 90s, this type of service and food quality was easily found on Cathay Pacific and even North West Airlines on a long haul for economy. Food was served with stainless steel cutlery, blankets, pillows and headsets were free of charge. Heck, you could even ask for a brand new pack of playing cards to keep. Yes, it didn't have quilted seats or that extra couple of inches of leg room but economy really wasn't bad at all. How times have changed for the worst.
