Yeah, coconut milk can give the coffee a sour taste, it also curdles when chilled. And the coffee it's definitely for people who like it strong or are used to drink bitter drinks. Most of this people are probably used to drink creamer with a lil dash of coffee.

Coconut milk will always get like that. If she wanted a non dairy she should’ve probably went with like oat milk. A lot of people giving bad reviews probably drink like the Starbucks cans which have like 10000 grams of sugar. You can’t really compare the two. Plus if ur drinking the mocha, there will probably be a texture because that’s just how mocha is, even go to a Starbucks and order a mocha latte it’s going to be that thicker grainy texture always

The acidity of the coffee never pairs well with coconut, that would explain the chunks. Also, 1g of sugar in these drinks almost nothing compared to a bottled Starbucks frap that has like 30g of sugar. It's not the same, but I feel like people would expect them to be a similar vibe. Most prepackaged coffee drinks are plain unsweetened or creamy and sweet, no in-between. Either way, I opt for grinding my own beans and brewing my own shit fresh vs canned/bottled coffee, but still.

I drink matcha and coffee and almond milk separates like a little bit after just a few hours and not that bad so I’m absolutely sure the coconut milk caused the separation. And I think the coconut milk caused the weird after taste as well since it’s a flavor most aren’t used to. I think also the coffee isn’t as sweet or creamy as most young people are used to so overall that’s why it’s not being received well

Anyone who cooks with coconut milk knows that if not properly taken care of, it can and WILL leave a sour taste, this isn't new. Same with the texture and how chunky it gets. This is also why a good amount of people don't recommend coconut milk unless you are making an at home recipe and drinking it the same day, it can turn into a mess very easily. If this was literally JUST coffee, you could say the only way to ruin it is burnt beans. But it isn't, there are other ingredients, that anyone who every has put milk in their coffee knows definitely change the taste a good amount.

little tid bit here - milks will separate like that and form "chunks" during the pasteurization process. My guess is that they used a powdered coconut milk (they would do this to further support keeping the product shelf stable) and it got a little "cooked," forming those pieces/specks. Totally safe to consume and super normal for canned coffee. TBH i think most people have just never had canned coffee and didn't know what to expect.

Coconut milk is just known to be chunky when cold since that is the fat that separated from the milk. I drink it all the time with in my matcha lattes and it always ends up like that so it's not expired.

Thank you!! I also enjoy stronger coffee, so when I was seeing reviews, I 100% felt like it was people taking a sip of a regular latte and expecting a java chip frappuccino. And definitely coconut milk was a bad idea - I used to work for Starbucks and both the coconut milk and almond milk CONSTANTLY got chunky, no matter how much we shook it or how fresh it was. Never had an issue with soy milk or oatmilk though, so she probably should have gone for one of those two.

coming from someone who loves starbucks and also grew up drinking unsweetened dark black coffee with my hispanic family i can confirm that most people who have these reactions just aren’t used to coffee as is. they’re used to overly sweet and creamy drinks with whipped cream and caramel drizzle. nothing wrong with it. i love them too. but when you’re going to try something you’re not used to and KNOW you’re not used to. don’t give such exaggerated and over the top reactions. Before y’all call people dramatic or looking for fame, remember everyone is different. People might have sensory issues and the chunks would be very jarring. Then to others, some things may taste overly bitter or acidic. You can have an opinion. Plus, Emma has a cult following and people wouldn’t trash her for the sake of trashing her. From my experience, most coffees that come in cans are 90% black and have barely any sugar, soo I don't know what people were expecting. The only thing that is usually sweet are Starbucks frappuccinos which have a crap load of sugar.

i’m not a coffee in a can girl but i drink my coffee with very little milk and no sugar, i may give these a try in a pinch!

I sometimes make my coffee w/ coconut milk and I adore the flavour. Good concept, not enough beta-testing and inconsistent quality-control may have lead to this. 😕

From personal experience when I’ve had to use almond milk instead of regular milk in my coffee… That’s where I’ve had the chunkiness come from. It doesn’t dilute, the sugar, the way, normal creamer or milk would…🤘

It’s because everyone puts a lot of sugar in their coffees. I don’t put sugar in mine and I thought it tasted good
