She is a great elphaba ( not my fave) but still good, and powerful. As far as acting goes, she plays the character of elphaba beautifully and surely this is what its all about, bringing across the story and life of the wicked witch. Shame to see such negative comments 😞

Guys she's really not that bad at all. I came into the comments before she even reached her flying portion of the song and was expecting something terrible. Also, why is everyone bringing up the high F? It was crystal clear. And just because you're getting paid for a role doesn't mean your vocal chords understand and hop into top shape.

Fr. That day she clearly felt weak, but every singer has those days (apart from Donna Vivino somehow). I've seen Emma 3 times in London and each time she was phenomenal

my god...some of the criticism on here is absolutely ridiculous. 'because she is paid a six figure salary she should be held to account.' Quite clearly someone who thinks they know everything but probably has absolutely no idea about anything. If I am honest I come on here and listen to different audios/videos because I enjoy listening to it. That is what these video's are here for...enjoyment! Yes this performance may seem underwhelming and there are better performances by Emma Hatton, but some of the absolute garbage I have read on here of some peoples criticism is just way over the top and harsh. Personally I think this one of her less 'amazing' performances but no way does that mean A. she didn't try, B.give 100% effort at the time and finally C. she can be judged because of her salary!!! Like someone else said, think you can perform better, then get off your arse and show you can do better before you start throwing out such ridiculous remarks. If you don't like the performance....a rather simple solution is not to watch it again!! If we could all go back and just enjoy the amazing show that is Wicked...that would be more helpful! Rant over.....

It's been enlightening to see the arguments taking place on this video. But 54redkiller is right, Emma is sounding weaker, shakier, more vocal damaged and less like she cares about the role with every passing audio. She was a good standby but never should have been promoted to lead, EVER, and now she has completely outstayed her welcome by at least a year, made a laughing stock of the show and the role, and added a whole new level to the phrase "running through the motions". September 3rd can't come quickly enough, not because Rachel is taking over, but because Emma is finally going.

Wow. What a disgusting, disrespectful thing to say. Why would you purposefully post horrible comments like that especially seeing as the person who uploaded this video is clearly a huge fan. Emma could well see this and it is sick people like you who stop people believing in themselves and lowering their self esteem to 0. The funny thing is you are the laughing stock because I bet you don't earn half the amount of money Emma does and have half the amount of incredible talent she does. I bet you don't have the courage and bravery of Emma Hatton who performs 8 times a week because all you're doing is sitting behind a computer screen and making peoples' lives a misery!! How utterly sad. Have fun with not getting on your account due to the people who have started to report you. I'm going to laugh when Emma becomes even more famous and proves you wrong :) :) :)

I really don't see anything wrong with what Jamie said? He's actually voicing the opinion of a majority of the people who have commented on this, so we're evidently "not a minority". We're not saying we hate her as a person, we're not saying we didn't think she was a good standby. We're just saying that some people have the ability to take this role on full time. And Emma has show in the decline in her vocal power and acting ability that she unfortunately doesn't. See, I wasn't nasty or horrible in anything I just said. I wrote a perfectly pleasant reply, and voiced my opinion. Have a nice day :)

+Eloise Lewis completely agree! Emma went from standby to lead, and looking at twitter loads of people agree that she is such a great Elphaba! CANNOT stand people comparing her to the likes of RT because they are two different people who offer different things to this demanding role! People who pick to shreds these recordings are extremely rude, and I am sorry to say but all these people who comment rude stuff need to think about what they are saying because it is bullying. Emma is lead Elphaba!

+Ryan Souch and just because there's a few videos and audios out there where Emma sounds tired and not at her best doesn't mean that she never performs her best because she does! I have tons of recordings of Emma at her best and unfortunately the master doesn't want them shared so I can't put them on KZbin

Like, do these people even know anything about the human voice. Emma's voice has remained completely strong and powerful. If you're worried about any actor looking as if they're running through the motions, maybe reconsider how many times you watch the show. What I mean is, these actors are not employed to be judged by people who see the show ridiculous amounts of times. They are employed to be consistent and be true to character. All of which Emma has done. Maybe give the show a break and watch it on a more rare occasion and things may not seem so boring. Maybe you guys are the ones 'running through the motions'. ;)

Just when I thought she couldn't sound worse... that high F sounds painful, and those "bring me downs" are so shaky, the riffs at the beginning can't cover up the fact her voice is growing weaker as her run continues. A shame really, she had so much potential when she was standby.
