Nice video. These court-level shots really show the fitness of professional players and the power of their groundstrokes, in a way that watching on TV doesn't. Placement of the ball on the other side of the ne is also important, it makes winning the point easier.

Outer leg is always firm thus keeping core weight centered and ready to move to the next ball. Head to hips is always calm and balanced. Combine this with proper footwork and you're always in position and ready. Bob Hansen (UCSC) taught me this lesson. This took my play to the next level. Thanks Bob.

How do you keep the outer leg firm?
@williamjackson2089 Жыл бұрын
@@murtazakhalil2972Which is the outer leg? Since there are only 2 both can be the outer. Satting left or right would be more descriptive. Is the inner leg the one closest to the net? in that case it depends on whether she is playing forehand or backhand.

I would love to see her add more dimension to her game other than trading baseline shots, like hitting short low skidding shots to the middle to bring her opponent into the net and then practicing her passing shots. Also coming in herself when she hits deep crosscourt shots and attack the net with her volleys. I cannot believe nobody is telling her this, I have seen her get frustrated and simply give up when she is losing without trying something different.

While what you say may be true I dont know. She is the British No.1. I can no doubt bet she is much better than you or me. Chances are she and her coach have studied and analyzed it and does not need armchair experts on the internet to tell her what needs to be done.

I sort of agree. But if you watch the US open final she kept the ball in the middle of the court during the second set as she was getting punished down the line. Yes, a huge advantage that she has. I've never understood the reason other than overwhelming mechanical repetition to have that insane backswing. I get that a 12 year old junior girl needs it, but it should be gradually worked out of someone's game by the time they are 18, man or woman.
@joekim37573 жыл бұрын
@@LowUTR i think it's more of a genetic thing with females. not to generalize, but females are typically bottom heavy whereas males are top heavy. I think a lot of WTA just grew up playing with such a massive backswing that changing that during your professional career would be too high risk.

@LowUTR3 жыл бұрын
Actually her practice rallies and her US open matches show a major divergence in stance...which is hugely problematic. It's not her neutral stance shots...it is the number of balls that she hits closed stance. When you hit 60% of your practice shots closed stance but your matches are 10% or less, that's a huge waste of practice time. It is very comfortable in a slow rally during practice to close your stance and just let your body do the work, but it is very impractical at the tour level, even for women.

I'm sorry to say this, but far too much knee bend. It's ridiculous, especially on her backhand. She needs to stretch her front leg way more. Don't stay down during the strike. You have to compensate far too much with your arms. Many coaches have wet dreams about staying low on the court all the time, when in fact it's only necessary when in corners. The way Emma is doing it is counterproductive. And I didn't see it during the US Open, so it's a new thing. I would strongly recommend against it.
