Emma is so mature for age; her composure through interviews is impeccable and her answers are so intelligent. I especially like that line when she said, “…I wasn’t thinking about the score too much, I was thinking about collecting points, as many as I could….” That was such a cool perspective to straddle on through a match, wow! How mature!

Exactly the type of comment i was expecting from someone who doesn't understand the implication of the game with the 40 year old. Should EMMA win then she only beat a 40 year old, had EMMA lost then she was beaten by a 40 year old. For EMMA it was an unenviable position to be in !!

Emma should have played the doubles and not cancelled. Doubles gives you valuable play to practice your game. It's also not respectful for your partner especially cancelling within a couple hours of your match.

Tbf, you shd know why the doubles was cancelled before blaming Emma. Her doubles partner Elena had her singles match right before the doubles match. So it could hv been cancelled at her request instead. Poor scheduling to be blamed. And Emma's match with Serena was delayed by 1 day too. So it did messed up the scheduling for her matches too. Ofc playing doubles would hv been great, esp with Elena. Next time hopefully
@axe70642 жыл бұрын
@@isabellasmith8377 The commentator said it was because she won against Azarenka she didn't need to play another match that day . But that's foolish because Radacanu hasn't been stretched at all so the level of Pegula will be a big shock for Radacanu which is why she should have played the Doubles. It's also not tennis etiquette to cancel last minute.

@@JustMe-jy5qk Greg Rusedski on Amazon Prime said Emma had pulled out of the doubles probably because she had won against Azarenka and therefore didn't need to play another match that day. Bearing in mind all players are dealing with back to back matches and scheduling fiascos.

Great to see her winning. Hope she kicks on. Only issue is she's beaten 2 senior citizens. Serena was awful.
@JustMe-jy5qk2 жыл бұрын
With due respect, don't call serena/Vicka senior citizens. The fact that they are still out there competing shows they are determined to play. Serena won a 2 set match in Toronto versus Diaz. She's no pushover. Vicka just won a 3 set match vs Kanepi. They are both very competitive, champions mindset. For Emma to bagel with 1 UE vs Serena speaks of her game plan and quality win. Emma was aggressive and didn't let them play their usual attacking game. Her aggression won her the USO. Hopefully she's back at that level. Nonetheless huge credit for those scorelines against multiple champs.
