Great match for Emma. Feel a bit sorry for Korpatsch, she looked like a deer caught in the headlights, not used to playing in front of a packed crowd, shouting and cheering for her opponent. This is what happens when you play the "it" girl of the WTA that everyone wants to see. Organizers should've put this match in a much bigger stadium. Coco Gauff's R1 match at the same time in Rod Laver Arena was 75% empty.

I think the reason that Emma's match was put on the 1573 Arena may have been to do with the sponsors of that stadium the Chinese distillery Luzhou Laojiao, producer of a baijiu labelled Guojiao 1573. With Emma's Chinese connection they probably wanted Emma to be seen standing in front of their 1573 logo during the match.

@@dr.strange6775 Well you are obviously someone who doesn't have a clue about Brand Names, Marketing and the sponsoring of premier sporting events. Why do you think these companies spend millions to sponsor events like this? Why do you think the Guojiao 1573 logo is plastered all over the main Arenas in prominent positions just behind the players when they are on court? I know Emma doesn't drink and most of the other players probably don't drink either but that doesn't matter. These sponsors want to see high profile Tennis players being associated with their Logos when they are playing their matches because it's premier advertising for them and it can influence the public watching to buy their product. Why do you think high profile companies like Porsche, HSBC, British Airways, Dior, Vodafone, Tiffany & Co. and Evian all want to be associated with Emma? It's because of her popularity and marketability and her potential to appeal to multiple markets. The Chinese distillery that sponsors the 1573 Arena will have a large ticket allocation for that Arena and I bet some of the fans that attended Emma's match were there by courtesy of the Chinese distillery. As for your ridiculous theory that Emma was placed on that court because of her low ranking is just nonsense because the 1573 Arena is one of the 5 main Arenas. If she was going to be placed according to her ranking she would have been on one of the smaller numbered outside courts, even higher ranked players than Emma were placed on the smaller numbered outside courts such as Amanda Anisimova, Marta Kostyuk, Jil Teichmann, Elena Rybakina, Elisabetta Cocciaretto, Qinwen Zheng, Aliaksandra Sasnovich, Anhelina Kalinina, Shelby Rogers, Camila Giorgi, Alison Riske-Amritraj, Martina Trevisan, Ekaterina Alexandrova, Petra Martic, Magda Linette, Mayar Sherif, Sorana Cirstea, Yulia Putintseva, Lucia Bronzetti, Sloane Stephens, Anastasia Potapova, Daria Kasatkina, Tatjana Maria, Irina-Camelia Begu, Donna Vekic, Beatriz Haddad Maia, Nuria Parrizas Diaz, Lauren Davis, Danka Kovinic, Shuai Zhang, Claire Liu, Madison Brengle, Bernarda Pera. So I think that shows you are just talking nonsense.

I'll say the same thing about Emma I say about Amanda Anisimova after every one of her matches. They both are IMG hype jobs. No amount of clicks, views and followers can make you something that you aren't. Emma won't be in the tournment much longer. She is going to get schooled either by Gauff or Zheng. There is no doubt about that. Bottom line just like IMG wanted a tall blond to replace Sharapova look like they wanted someone with Chinese heritage to replace Li Na. Well what they forgot was Sharapova despite fame and hype just wasn't that good and got humiliated by Serena every time they played. Same thing with Emma, no matter how bad IMG want her to be great she isn't and never will be. Those of us that are smart can see that. We said the same thing about Anisimova and were proven right and we will be proven right about Emma as well. Emma has a lot of hype but she obviously doesn't have the talent to back up that hype.
