I loved playing tennis and riding dirt bikes when I was young. Ironically, I sustained worse injuries playing tennis than riding dirt bikes. After repeatedly injuring my elbow I quit playing and eventually quit following the sport altogether. That was a few decades ago, so I've never heard of Emma before. I checked out this video because of the image of her on the MX bike. What an amazing young woman. My young self would have been intimidated beyond belief by her, lol. My old self wishes her the best of luck.

So much of being a great athlete is not getting injured
@VirtualGuth2 жыл бұрын
@@jazzfan7491 That's definitely true - especially before PED usage entered the equation.
@jazzfan74912 жыл бұрын
@@VirtualGuth I think people don't understand this unless they play a sport themselves. The very best athletes are often the ones who, for reasons genetic or because they are very smart about training, don't get injured. Injuries not only affect being able to participate in competition, but also whether you are able to continue your training to the highest level. Each time you get injured, you are interrupted and start again at a lower level. This is why the best athletes are very careful about stretching and other "wasted" time that's very effective for preventing injuries.

Emma needs to stop getting rich on advertising and start practicing to improve her game. She gave up two games telling all that there was a medical reason,but every test came back as normal. I’m getting a little sick of constantly seeing her in multiple adverts on the TV at the same time as ‘collapsing’ on courts.
@garyh44272 жыл бұрын
no keep getting more and more richer emma and milk it all while you are young and let these critics keep whining about what you do -go emma and make that first billion.
@sh-ro6cw2 жыл бұрын
@@garyh4427 doesn’t that depend on what Emma sees as successful? Maybe she doesn’t want to be a cash machine for the advertising industry and would rather be seen as a world tennis star rather than somebody who makes a lot of money in the adverts looked after by her father. If she wants to continue to fight hard as a tennis player then she has much work to do. It’s very nice to have so many fans supporting you, and recognising you in some sort of advert about a boy scoring a try and a girl being tossed up to the ceiling,however,she didn’t get very far in Wimbledon for whatever reason. I wish Emma all the best in her career,but how the adverts appearing on tv are going to help her game I have no idea. After all,they do tend to grate after a while so that people can’t bare to see another showing.
@sh-ro6cw2 жыл бұрын
@@garyh4427 And what about her pride and self esteem? Unfortunately in advertising one minute you’re the worlds sweetheart and then the next thing you know you’re not . We’ve all watched people come and go on our TVs adverts. Why did she wear £35000 of jewels when she played tennis,correct me if I’m wrong but who else does that or has done that? Surely the less you have weighing you down the better ,sweat bands are perfectly understandable. Maybe she was trying to get attention by putting the message over that ‘I’m pretty and thanks to my modelling I’m rich as well ,never mind the tennis.’ It’s sad really as she has so much potential in tennis,and when she eventually retires she will be admired like Sue Barker,Virginia Wade etc. If she goes the modelling way it will be ‘Emma who?’

@@sh-ro6cw The other thing i just wanted to add was when she won us-open i listened to radio 5 live and pat cash said she was going to be a superstar in the sport and that she was pretty and going to be in so much demand but give her time and let her grow and develop and there is plenty of time to make money and the other thing is that emma herself does not understand how people are viewing her in this way by saying she is like this beautiful young athlete and is the least vain person that i have ever come across.

As Emma Raducanu faced so much criticism after her USO'21 win, Nike and other brands are just trying to project her as if she isn't perfect. With having good looking face, physic, and fame, brands see a lots of opportunities in her to make money. Unfortunately, she doesn't have breathe control and motivation to play good tennis. Brands can't keep pushing her for longer time if she doesn't push herself in the training than in brand promotions. Just some one time wonder.
@anonusniogsonisrgnip2 жыл бұрын
Can't stand her to be honest, I don't know if it's her sudden urge for fame and money without any remarkable game to back it up or the media overhyping an average tennis player because of her looks while other players way beyond her level gets 0 recognition. Either way she needs to do less advertisement and more training imo if she wants any longevity in the world of tennis. All this promotion with 0 results is starting to feel very hollow and shallow. Well thats just my opinion!
