Wow… just wow. I began weeping as Emma began speaking about her mom. It was as if a realization of the amount of bravery my call will require settled over me. And during the altar call I wept in gratefulness that I was brave enough to obey when the Lord called me out of healthcare into ministry. Answered pray. Emma when the New York City crisis started I feared violence and riot. I asked people to pray God's will be done. Today in New York City the governor declared a state of emergency. It's raining and there is serious flooding. People are inside and there is even talk of people going elsewhere.. Praise God. His will is apparent and being done . Praise Him. No violence no riot no fighting. Just peaceful falling rain.

So do you go to the New Testament? The early church didn't have it. They had the Scriptures (The Old Testament) only. They relied on remembering Jesus' words through the Holy Spirit reminding them, and whole new revelation (such as the book of John called The Revelation of Jesus Christ) through the Holy Spirit. You want a Rhema (spoken) word, learn to hear Him speak, and check it against the revelation of the Logos (written) word known as the Bible. We are so thankful for the writing-down by the Apostles of the words they heard, inspired by the Holy Spirit as they wrote, (and the lives sacrificed to preserve those words), so that we don't have to redo that part in every generation. God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He still speaks. In agreement with who He is, as He had people record for our knowledge in the Holy Scriptures. I think you would probably have hated Ezekiel and Jeremiah if you had been there.

So, by your own standard, throw out all your bible commentaries and sermons. Also, throw out any worship songs you sing in church that are not quoted from scripture verbatim. Your church should only read straight from scripture texts, without any commentary or teaching by any man or woman, because "the word of God is the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth" not what your pastor or any other human says. It seems that you think Holy Spirit cannot communicate with God's people, teaching them in their spirits teaching that is consistent with what scripture says. It sounds ridiculous, but that's the standard you are imposing on those you disagree with. Since you didn't want anyone to "quote bible references" for support, I have refrained from quoting scriptures such as: 2 Corinthians 2:12-16, Acts 2:17-21, and Acts 2:39.
