I really like Emma's description of Marks character, because there are definitely points in the movie I start to feel bad for him, but then he does something absolutely stupid and im reminded how pathetically short sighted he is. It's funny and wonderful.

I know real people like that: people who seem to exist only to give your eye-rolling muscles exercise, but then they do something human, but then before you betray yourself by sympathizing, they manage to go right back to reminding you that they aren't at all sympathetic.... Most of them have been at places where I've worked--- but not exclusively.

bla bla bla... it's a surrealist movie, it's fantastical, it's not based in scientific reality.
