Suggestion, find out the weight, height, length and width of your bus so that you can safely go under a bridge/ over pass and over the bridge, some bridges have a weight limit, make a label and paste it on the dashboard for quick reference. Also a folding chair will help. Have fun.

ALWAYS back into parking spaces, especially when camping. Imagine you need to leave at night and a straight getaway is always best. Backing a bus at night is NOT fun. Glad you had a nice camping trip. Keep at it, your strengths are strengthening. 😊

In general, the overflow tank is where you add coolant. Unless you've cut or blown a hose, then it goes in through the cap. The overflow tank works by sucking coolant in as it cools, expelling but not losing, as it heats up. So it may not draw enough into the engine to completely fill it. There has to be a filler cap on there somewhere. Only remove the main cap when the engine is cool, as the system is pressurized. Also, highly likely it has a bleeder valve on it somewhere, to get rid of air pockets. Most importantly, keep an eye on the temperature gauge. If it's drastically low, the temp gauge will be high.

One of the biggest wilderness rules is to not pee (or dump) into the water source. You're much better off (and so is the wildlife) going 100 yards away from the water, preferably into just open dirt. (bury your solids!). Thanks for coming to my ted talk. Oh and edit: How awesome is it to be out in the wilderness playing a violin!

1. Old story I hear is that wasp do not like dryer sheets. 2. Dash cams mounted in various spots for your safety and for video content. Just have them power on automaticaly when bus starts. Later in time, a trail rear bumper hitch so you can add a bike rack or a storage box during travels.

A couple of thing you might want to do when you get on the road and start spending the night at camp those black bees are mud doppers they make there homes out of mud number two get. Fly sweater to kill any other bugs and the last think when parking in a spot for the night back in or have a way you can get out of real quickly if you have to you don’t won’t to have to back up in the middle of the night ❤️

I like the blue color you painted your bus. I know you've worked hard and put a lot into this bus, and that often 90% of the work comes at the last 10% of a project. So keep yourself fresh and maintain your standard. I wish you much success with your videos. . You seem very utilitarian in culture, that is a fine culture I respect. You're also young and beautiful, you should dress more like you enjoy that part of yourself. You can't be "real" on youtube, so use everything you got to get those views and fund your ventures, that's being pragmatic. You're a work of art. . Have really enjoyed your build series, just wish you got the views you deserve. This was a beautiful location, and I agree about the desert lol. :😀

I don't want to worry you, but what happens to your youtube channel when you finish building? Do we come along for your adventures? If that's the case, can you rename the channel? Why would a Wookiee, an 8-foot-tall Wookiee, want to live on Endor with a bunch of 2-foot-tall Ewoks? That does not make sense!

If there's no air in the coolant system. I'd ohm out the wires going to the sensor. Making sure there's no breaks in the wires. My semi truck had that issue. The wires were in a braided plastic sheathing like Chinese handcuff weve. The wires were crammed into the sheathing and had kinks. Every kink had broke internally the wires and caused an intermittent check engine light that eventually stayed on. It sucked because I spent money on a sensor that wasn't bad. Wish I'd checked the wiring first.

You may want to get a bus driver to show you all the things you will want to check before you take a trip. Truckers call this a prettip. I imagine once you get the coolant level correct the light will shut off. This will be important as it goes warmer. The engine WILL NOT allow itself to run if it, the engine, is hot. It just shuts down, until the engine cools off. Which when it is 110 degrees sucks to a level you can not comprehend, it could get to 280+ inside the bus cabin. And it won't cool off for a good 20-30 hours on the standard A/C. In this case the thing you'll love is that openable lid. I can send you a list of all the things you check on a semi truck, well Instagram or that short of thing. It is basically the same for a bus. I haven't pretripped a bus in 15 years.

Working hard is awesome but there is no reason to work hard if you're not taking the time to have fun, to get out and dip your toes in the stream now and then. As always love your attitude and your videos. When you mentioned how your journal was different from your videos. Your videos are for us, your journal is personal just for you. Until your mom finds them. LOL! Now the bus. Coolant doesn't just disappear. It's a sealed system. If you're losing coolant it's leaking somewhere. When you get back from a trip try to park somewhere where there is cement or pavement under your bus. After a while check under the bus for any new stains. You may be able to tell a coolant leak by the colour of the stain. Same colour as the coolant you added. If you smell the coolant stain it will smell sweet. (as an old mechanic I can tell you it will tatse sweet. DON'T TASTE IT). You had an issue with the rear heater when you removed it. It's possible there is air in those lines. Coolant will not compress, air will. Which will drop the level when it's under pressure. Not sure if that would be the problem though. Also make sure you are using a pre-mix coolant or coolant that you need to add water to. Lastly certain manufacturers of vehicles and or engines require a specific coolant. Maybe a coolant for diesil engines.e

The all black ones are mud wasps. They won't sting, but can become belligerent if you harass them. The all black ones build really pretty "adobe" woven looking mud nests. If you have two or three of them building a mud nest, it almost sounds like a construction project. They make a weird buzzing/drilling noise when they chew the mud to make their nest. It almost sounds like a little saw and jack hammer or other construction equipment. When I was little, I used to pour water in the dirt where I would see them and help them build their little adobe homes.

Emma, I worked in a Transport Bus garage for many years my job was to allocate Buses to routes first thing in the morning, then I would go round them top them off with water only till it flowed out of the filler cap, the drivers would start them up on their arrival and recheck the water levels before leaving the garage by again by filling them with water till it runs out of the filler cap, or on My other shift I would refuel them and park them up at night and check oil levels and add 1/2 gallon of antifreeze as well when they cooled down, they were out for sixteen to twenty hours a day, by keeping to this routine we very rarely had any water or overheating problems, the bus itself would dump any excess water it did not need, in other words let it find it's own happy level you will not cause any harm if you do something similar, you can safely overfill them.

Cool video of your first trip "using" the bus for what it's meant to be. I'm hoping that you get used to it, it's a different lifestyle and mentality to acually enjoy it but I hope you end up doing longer trips and figure it out more. I went back to some old videos to find out how you're going to fill your tank since you pretty much finished the bed area. Would you do an update video of what else is left and how you're prioritizing them ?

Im assuming that Rita is talking about a garmin inreach. Pretty much just a gps with a satellite communicator built in, they make several models with it now, some are just labeled with an i in the name, not branded as an inreach. If you want one that can also navigate on roads, I think the bare minimum version with that(at least for hiking ones from garmin) is the gpsmap66i. The inreach mini 2 is nice as an emergency tracker/communicator, but not for navigating anywhere(must be linked to a phone to see a map). The mini 2 is worth the extra over the first version, it uses a different app on your phone that is less buggy/weird. Really any satellite communicator should work, just remember that they need a subscription for that part to work! Probably more info than anyone needed from a youtube comment, but thats sleep deprived me for you lol.

Get yourself a little dirt bike and have a holder on the back of your bus on a trailer hitch to hold your motorcycle rack for the hold your motorcycle and use your motorcycle to go back up where your bus can't go and you can always lock up your bus and go take it tent and sleep up under tent I've also seen some people will take a small four-wheel drive like a sidekick Suzuki Sidekick or a Geo Tracker and we'll pull it behind the bus and when they want to go up on trails with a bus can't go they still can go

This bus has the 7.3 engine, right? That engine has a pressurized reservoir, so you just add the coolant/water to that and it will suck it into the radiator/cooling system as it needs it.

Hi I know this mite seem obvious but don't you have a bus station most drivers probably put in water and check oil, or perhaps they will have mechanics to ask or even if your passing a place that sells buses , something that mite be the way to go is when you arrive at a site ie you have decided on a spot, whilst there is less vehicles about reverse into your space this obvious really pays dividends when your trying to leave and quit possibly an important strategy if you want to leave in the dark .

Hi Emma; the little plastic tank that's behind the door on the front of your bus is the overflow tank, the actual radiator is behind the front grill. The grill is easy to remove so You can access the radiator to fill it with the proper coolant. With the engine cool remove the radiator cap start the engine and begin adding coolant letting it go down and add more coolant repeating until the engine won't hold anymore coolant then put the cap back on the radiator and put the grill back in place. Now you're good to hit the road!😁

@mudman7618
@mudman7618 2 жыл бұрын
Others have covered it, but it generally takes a few key cycles for the code to clear itself. Or use your code reader to clear the codes and see if it comes back. Your bus should have an overflow reservoir. As the water/coolent heats up it expands into the overflow tank and as it cools draws it back into the system. It could be that with your bottle missing, the sensor may be missing as well as the sensor may be in the overflow bottle. I'm not familiar with that particular setup. But some cars do similar. Which may be why your code is there and not going away.
