I have just purchased my fist Curated Coat (The London Coat in Bone), and as a multiple Max Mara coat owner for many years, I can attest to the quality being similar. I am pleasantly surprised with the coat, especially for the price point and I have no hesitations about purchasing another Curated coat. In fact, I am thinking of gifting one. For those of you who are on the fence, I have listed some of my observations: Quality - The quality in fabric, design and finishing is excellent, especially for the price. The seam finishing of the coat for example, which I imagine is the same for all models, is of a high standard indeed with proper seam binding edging the pocket. While I cannot attest to its wear as my coat has not been worn for a season yet, I expect it to fare well if it compares to my other Max Mara coats. Lining - Many Max Mara coats have no lining as they are what is termed 'double faced', as are the curated ones. My pet peeve with no lining in a wool coat is the lint transfer. If I wear a light coloured coat with a dark blue or black sweater, the sweater will always pick up the light coloured lint of the coat, and if worn often enough, the light coat will take on the dark lint of the sweater. The same would be for a light coloured sweater on a dark coat. I don't know if Emma has noticed this problem. I also prefer a lined coat because I like the way sweaters glide into the sleeves, and they also wrinkle much, much less. Having said that however, the fact that the coat is unlined is not a problem. Size - I appreciate that Emma pointed out that if one prefers a more oversize look, as I do, you should size up. Advice I will use on my next order. If anyone is interested in the London coat, at 5'4", it falls closer to my ankles. While the size I ordered is still roomy, I might have preferred it one size up, but this for me would mean getting it shortened by a tailor. Value - From what I've seen so far, the Curated wool coat is very good value for its cost, and is a very good investment piece.

I am still able to to layer thick pieces underneath. It is an amazing lux piece. I had sat with it for long period of times and it hasn’t creased on me, and so far I haven’t had to steam it for creases purchases. Great detailed vid 💕

Love to hear your thoughts on these coats! I ordered the classic first but have really grown to LOVE the London coat. I currently own it in 3 colors and am contemplating a 4th! I love the look of the more finished pockets as well as the button closure along with some seam detail along the shoulder that elevates it just a bit while still maintaining the simplicity. I struggled with the wide sleeve opening of the classic (also on the boyfriend which I have not tried) and felt it made it feel more robe like and didn’t suit my small frame. I bought one of the Classic coats a couple of years ago and the fabric is indeed beautifully soft. I am one of those who finds the belt loop situation by this brand sort of awkward. Also, I am the same height as you, Emma, and I find the sleeves too short, even after sizing up specifically for the sleeves. I think this coat is overall too skimpy (lengthwise too, as you also mention). Part of what I think makes a coat look premium is in fact looking oversized (including sleeves and overall length) so I think this coat looks more "premium" on shorter people. My favourite coats (from other brands) are even longer on me than the London coat.

Help. I adore the London coat and would love it in the bone color BUT, I've never owned an unlined coat. A few concerns I have are: How hard is it to put over your clothing without a lining? Since I am interested in the bone color I'm wondering about lint fuzzie transfers to darker clothing worn underneath and vice versa. Is the bone color cool or warm? It appears to be a cool color in pictures. I would buy this coat in a heartbeat IF it was lined. A lining would also make the coat warmer.

Experienced extreme weather in the US. I wear wool coats until it gets about 10 degrees Fahrenheit ( I think that’s about -12 C) and I’m pretty warm. I will mention though that I think my lined wool coats keep me warmer than my unlined coats. Also, thermals are just a game changer. I hope this helps:)

I purchased the London coat in bone as well, and because the coat is unlined that lint/fluff transfer from coat to sweater and vice versa is a real concern for me when wearing darker sweaters. I find that after wearing a darker sweater with the bone-coloured coat, I make sure to remove all dark lint left behind from sweaters with a lint roller or a knit pilling tool after each use. Inside collars, back, under the arms and seams are usually where the fluff sticks the most. And I usually carry a mini roller in my handbag for the dark sweater. While dark colours under the London bone is a favourite look of mine, I've come to embrace the elegance of creams and taupes with it.

@EmmaHill2 жыл бұрын
My ideal sleeve length on a coat would be to fall right at the very end of my wrist just before my palm. The sleeves on the classic fall short of that on me but I’m used to that happening with coats. Have you considered turning up the sleeve at the cuff so you get that chunky robe look?

I loathe having sleeves go past my wrist, so I'm always cuffing up sweaters, shirts and coats. If you don't mind the chunkier look on your wrist, cuffing works. I have found that those coats I did get professionally shortened at the wrist are automatically more comfortable to me without any fidgeting. As the Curated coats are unlined, the work involved to alter is less, but find out the price first to determine if it is worth it to you.

A steamer is such a good investment for keeping your wardrobe in good condition. It's like having a good iron. Unless its linen in the summer, wrinkled clothing is never a good look. My closet space is limited, so things tend to get a little squished and crumpled, including sweaters. In seconds, my steamer makes everything wrinkle free.

Hi Emma! Love these coats. They look so beautiful. But do u think they'll look ok on me? (I'm 5'0 or 150cm)

I think many petite folks have opted for the Classic coat, I’m not sure about specific height but I’ve had a lot of followers who have a petite body shape that have told me they have the Classic and it’s a great length on them. Maybe have a browse through their tagged posts to spot the petites 😘

@@EmmaHill oh I see. Thanks a lot for the suggestion. Will definitely do that. On another note, do u think I should size up to layer thicker sweaters underneath?

The London coat in the US is $495 a considerable amount higher than when you made this video.

Sadly, I had pretty bad experience laundering my London coat from the Curated. I purchased in November 2020 and finally took it to the dry cleaners this spring, and the sleeves came back a full 2 inches shorter! The coat is unwearable now, as I have pretty long arms. I don’t blame the cleaners… I have been going to them for years and they have always done and amazing job. I was just gutted… the coat was beautiful. My recommendation would be not to clean it if you can help it!!

Terrific and super helpful info! Thank you for taking the time to do this- the company should have actually done the work to explain all of the important points/details among the styles. At the very least this will have a positive effect on reducing the number of returns they deal with. In my case, I will be adding the London to my Curated collection! ❤

Do you wear leather jackets? Have you done a video or videos about leather jackets?
@EmmaHill2 жыл бұрын
No I don’t wear leather jackets, I don’t like the cold feeling when putting them on 😖

Would you help me pick a color, camel vs bone for light skin & dark black hair, petite please.

If I’m being honest I couldn’t advise because I’m not a stylist or colour consultant. I only have experience with my own body, my own hair and skin colour so I wouldn’t have a clue where to start with anything other than that 🙈 My only advise is to go with the colour you feel you’d wear the most and what you would feel most comfortable and confident in. Black is always a go-to of mine because I love the way it makes me feel (like a bad-ass 😎🤣😉) and I just love the look of black BUT having 5 dogs that shed day in day out…it is a real bugger 😵💫😆
