I can't decide which Emmanuelle movie is my favourite. All I know is i LOVE the theme song. I liked it so much I made an 80s style cover version of it. GOD I miss the days before I had a job!!!

I ALSO miss the days before you got a job -- we used to talk more :) Have you considered quitting so you could hang on on KZbin more?

i just watched this a few weeks back....not too shabby
@jonnuanez71837 күн бұрын
Sylvia Kristel looks amazing here. And I loved the euphemisms. I guess one brught spot about KZbin censors is that it forces people to be funny when describing certain things. (I was 10-11 years old when I stumbled onto what I think was an Emmanuelle picture. All I remember is that two women were playing tennis. One was a buzzcut haired blonde whose hedges weren't trimmed. I guess her gardener took some time off *huge 😉 on that one*. That was the part I remember most)
@gustavgnoettgen7 күн бұрын
It's less funny when the euphemisms eventually get censored too.

There is one that took place in a jungle that used to be on cable late at night..cant find it anywhere, or remember which one it was.

I haven't seen a single Emmanuelle movie that didn't bore me to tears. I was super excited to see 5 as it stars Monique Gabrielle, but I was horribly let down. Is there a single one that doesn't disappoint? Otherwise I'm pretty sure your reviews will be the most I see of them. 10/10 fricheks

I was a horny teenager when Skinimax was mostly foreign imports... and, yeah, most of the European softcore porn was pretty boring. Or filled with really bad comedy if from England.

I got to see a pristine print of this at The Strand theatre on Market Street in San Francisco (R.I.P.) in the 1990s when they were doing $2 triple features - you just had to turn a blind eye (or ear, or nose) to whatever else was going on in the theatre. (I never dared to check out the balcony.) It was visually gorgeous, and extremely well made - I rank it as a highlight of the genre. How much story do you really need for one of these? 'The Odyssey" is also "episodic," but it's still getting recycled by filmmakers, like 'Alice in Wonderland,' which has also never gone out of print, so skroo Robert McKee - who robbed Aristotle's grave to make a screenwriting manual that pretty much killed American cinema - and the tyranny of the three act structure. The main thing, and the only thing that really matters ultimately, is that I wasn't BORED. Anyway, this was meant to elevate the genre a bit for mainstream audiences, but the timing was bad for softcore and the release ended up being troubled, which is probably why the print I saw looked flawless. One of the co-features was Jaeckin's The Story of O, and I know I saw In the Realm of the Senses there once (one of the great films, period, imo, that never fails to make me cry), but I can't remember if it was on that program or not. I don't think it was. I think it was probably some cheapjack piece of late 60's or early 70's sexploitation garbage almost nobody ever heard of. God, I miss that theatre.

Sounds like a cool theater :)

@@XploitationRR As close to the real grindhouses of old that had seen better days as I'll ever see again - whoever owned it had allowed it to lapse into a cheap place for the inebriated indigent to pass out in for the day (they weren't above whizzing in the aisles from time to time - once during Taxi Driver when there were actually quite a few normies in attendance giving the kind of complimentary gutter ambiance you can't buy), plus whatever else goes on in the dark that you don't want to know about. With the exception of the weekend, the films changed daily - three films every day, and programmed by someone whose knowledge of cinema had breadth, width and DEPTH. Bergman and Pasolini weren't necessarily off the menu but that's not the kind of depth I mean. Who puts together a weekday triple bill of Hellhole, Female Trouble and Jess Franco's Wanda (Ilsa) the Wicked Warden (uncut!)? I wish I knew. Anyway, it turned into a porno theater for a while then it closed forever. TWO BUCKS for the day!!!

Ah yes the Emmanuelle films.. eyes shelf full of blurays next to him I think the only one I haven't seen is the new one and a few of the later Black Emanuelle ones. I have a soft spot for that series and it's rip-offs. Sylvia was so beautiful back then. And so was Laura Gemser. En Monique Gabrielle...
