I was about to fold laundry and thought I'd be able to listen to this in the background. I was wrong. This performance took me outside of myself. Thanks for the journey.

Love the tone of Lew Tabackin's bird-like flute singing over Emmet Cohen's piano ripples, moving into a hard swinging jazz trio/quartet, followed by an "open" drum solo (or are they all still feeling the underlying pulse?) then into "free" section that gives impressions as though the 4 are creating a score for "The Jungle Book" Wow!

It’s gonna be great when Emmett get’s on in years and reveals what’s going on inside his mind/heart ‘cause daayumm, it’s just fascinating listening to him interact with a communicative soloist like Mr Tabackin. Loved Lew’s flute work and the way he makes it sound like a Japanese Shakuhachi. Also loved Emmett’s mini McCoy Tyner tribute at 6:00!

Used to listen to Lew Tabackin / Toshiko Akiyosho big band albums starting back in the 80’s. Great to hear him again with Emmet & company!
