In following our mission to showcase the San Francisco Bay Area's endless source of talent, we took an artist through the entire recording process at some of the most historic and best sounding recording studios in San Francisco. In doing this, we called upon each studios amazingly talented engineers and producers to put their own expertise on the single.
The piece was first shot during the tracking phase with producer/engineer Starita (Los Amigos Invisibles, Trevor Hall, Michael Franti) in the famous Studio A at Hyde St. Studios in San Francisco which has hosted Creedance Clearwater Revival, Green Day and The Grateful Dead all of which are San Francisco natives. The project then moved just upstairs to the only SSL9J studio in The Bay, Freq lab Recording, who also boasts an eclectic clientele from Talib Kweli and Jello Biafra to Katie Herzig and Robert Francis.
When it came time to mix down it only made sense to continue on to another historic San Francisco studio, Different Fur. Patrick Brown mixed the single in their room where Brian Eno, Elvis Costello, Bob Mould and Michael Franti have worked making many records we have all come to know and love.
For the final touches to take it over the top, the project went on to San Francisco mastering engineer Michael Romanowski at Michael Romanowski Mastering located at another one of The Bay's most historic studios, Coast Recorders, which was a stomping ground for No Doubt, Tom Waits, Third Eye Blind and Smashmouth.
As you can see, we were able to utilize 4 different amazing studios and staff with an extensive history that has been an integral part in the music we all love. That being said, we only scratched the surface in our journey to showcase our beloved San Francisco Bay Area talents. There are dozens more studios with extensive expertise and talent that we are excited to show you over this journey we're taking to bring The San Francisco Bay Area back to the #1 music destination in the world."
