Update: After finishing and listening to this album a couple of times over the past week, I actually think this is my personal favorite rock album ever. The production sounds massive and the unpredictable switch-ups kept me captivated the whole way through! Even the couple of songs I wasn’t totally in love with were still really good, and I definitely wouldn’t skip if they came on. Also, I realized early on that my favorite pop punk band Sum 41 totally ripped off this album hahaha. Can’t wait to get into 3 Cheers next!

I’m going to be the “well actually” guy about Avril Lavigne… You got it literally opposite. Helena definitely should have been on here. MCR classic. My Heroine by Silverstein We're at the top of the World by The Juliana Theory The Artist in the Ambulance by Thrice. Maybe more of a Post Hardcore type band, but they toured with all the emo bands. Maybe some more Used songs. I Caught Fire, All That I've Got or Take it Away could be picks. In Love and Death was huge. The non singles are even better (Listening and Let it Bleed are faves). That whole album slaps. Great basslines. I think I would've put Sugar, Helena, Makedamnsure and Ohio is For Lovers in the final 4. Those are definitely the songs I think of when I think of emo. For me Black Parade was like AFTER emo, but like idk. I just never got into that album. I was super into early MCR and The Used back in high school though.

Was just thinking "My Heroine" is a more notable song than "Smile in your Sleep" from them. Silverstein is impressively still going and still has a decent following though last I checked. Saw them either this or last year(?) and they're releasing new music not just playing the 20 something year old stuff.

This was the first bracket y’all have done where I knew all the (well except like two) songs on here. I’m not surprised at WTTBP for making it to the final two, but I am surprised at Ohio Is For Lovers not being its contender. It’s quite literally the most emo song on this bracket lol

(1) "Quiet Things..." > "Makedamnsure" (2) Jimmy Eat World was not an alternative band, they were an actual, original definition of the word "emo" band. Check out their album before Bleed American, it fucks. (3) Even though it doesn't fit, I was disappointed that the second GC song wasn't "I Don't Wanna Stop," I got tricked. (4) For this brand of "emo", I am surprised to not see "At Your Funeral" by Saves the Day.
