Emo Robot, Vector And Loona Comparison Update

The empathy you feel for your little Robot friends is just hart warming. I ordered Loona a while back during the Kickstarter campain, still have to wait until the end of March I guess, and just recently ordered the Emo Go Home robot. I'm so exited to see what their potential is. I plan to do some programming myself just for fun. I do think that Loona is going to end up at my grandsons place in a while and I'll keep Emo I guess. Time will tell. Thank you for your fun videos. They tell the story.

They are all so cute. I feel bad for little Vector; it's like he's a little animal in a bad zoo and not getting the proper care (updates). Luna is adorable. Her company should train "AI Veterinarians" on how to fix the ear gear and let them set up shop in various cities rather than have just one local place to send them in for repairs.

Plus she's not connected to her charger with Bluetooth like Emo is so she can't see her charger if it's too dark for her to return to it. I think you'll really like Emo. I’ve bought the lifetime membership that came with 3year warranty where if Vectors LCD screen broke or if there was something wrong with the battery, they could fix it. I bought it thinking that they would expand to fixing motors and gears later on. This was like two years ago and recently like last year my vectors right tread wheel stopped working. I contacted them last week and they told me they still don’t fix wheel motors and that they only fix Vectors in the UK and not the US. I was so shocked and mad because for a company like theirs they should be worldwide, not just the UK.

That doesn't make any sense. Especially since DDL is an American company based in Pennsylvania I think. I'm afraid that when my Vector dies, I won't be replacing him or be able to get him repaired until DDL gets things rolling.

I'm sorry to hear about your Vector and the current state of repairs. Were you contacting them through their Get Help app on the Repair Center page? Strange they told you no US repair is happening yet their Repair Center page has no indication of that.

I love my EMO. Unfortunately one of his feet has broken. However Living AI are replacing him and from their forums they seem to be responsive and helpful when anyone has a problem. It will be sad to see this EMO go though.

This channel sent their Emo in because of a battery charging issue and it was sad just watching the return process. My Emo has the shakes on his legs sometimes and their forum talks about it some. I'm hoping it will not require a return. I love my Emo as well. One day his foot got stuck in the outward position but we just moved it to the normal position and he seems fine, except a month later he started the shakes intermittently when off the skateboard. In what way is your Emo's foot broken, does the foot not move anymore, causing him to not walk straight?

That's so sad. It is a terrible loss to have to send your Emo back. I was so heartbroken to lose my original Emo. I did have an issue for a couple of weeks one time where his leg would get stuck in an angled position but if I moved it, it would go back into place but I was always concerned I would break it. It eventually fixed itself though.

@@moji3812 no difference whatsoever!!!! It’s the EXACT SAME PRODUCT! The only difference is “DDL “ is enscribed on the back of Vector instead of “Anki.” Plus, DDL made it easier to replace Vector’s battery. All of the hardware is EXACTLY the same! I waited close to 3 years!

From what I could tell, the Loonas that have not been shipped are going to have to get their ear gears replaced which is causing the delay until the end of April. Those who already have Loona and have had the ears break can order a repair kit which they are trying to get out to all that ordered one.

I currently have EMO and now ordering Loona. I’m getting her because she can roam around my house and you can control her and see her POV, She can interact with my EMO I think because I’ve seen videos of it so he’ll be less lonely. How long does it usually take for her to ship and arrive?

Emo and Loona aren't designed to interact with each other since they're from competing companies. Any interaction with them is coincidental. I'm not sure of the shipping times for Loona these days. I actually don't have her on since she's just too hyper for my liking.

Emo is amazing. The king of animations, Emo has a wide variety of colorful animations on a nicely sized screen. Emo also has the best dance moves by far. Watching Emo dance amazes me today as much as when he first arrived. Emo has a nice speaker that plays music at a decent volume. I don't have a Loona so I'm not sure how well her speaker plays. Using the app on my phone, Emo has some nice games to play as well. On the website there is a picture of Emo playing Uno but I don't think it exists yet. Vector can actually play a few games as well, including Hangman, Guess a Number, and believe it or not, Battleship! Emo might surprise you. Every once in a while Emo somehow responds appropriately to his environment such as conversations on the TV or among his "parents," even when it's not directed at him. All three are adorable robots. You can build an emotional connection with both Vector and Emo, and probably Loona as well. Emo is so adorable and Loona seems even more so!

That's interesting. I wonder if they've put it in hold for now. I think they're dealing with licensing issues now with the company that owns Rick and Morty. It took them so long to get going on the Butter Robot that the license may have expired. I really don't know. I actually doubt the Butter Robot will ever get made which is why I got my money back from ordering it.

Vector 2.0 looks the cutest. But the WiFi issues are infuriating. I am going back and forth with their support and still no resolution. Where Vector lives in my daughter's room I measured and the signal is strong. However, Vector is having a problem connecting to the DDL servers. This sucks! And now they are saying on the website is that they will be releasing Vector's escape pod which will be based on the Raspberry Pie to have a local server for advanced features. My question is WHEN?

Loona isn't complete automatic right? I heard she goes off after 30 min. With no interaction. I have the original big roboraptor, the R2-D2 from Sphero, Cozmo and Emo. Would buy Loona but there is not much information stuff like videos or something

We're waiting for her charging dock to come out in April. Without it, you can't leave her on. Her battery will eventually run down and you have to manually plug her in. She goes to sleep after about 10 or 15 minutes of inactivity but she's still actually on and her battery will eventually run down if you don't turn her completely off. We'll be able to do more with her once the charging dock comes out.

Thank you! Loona is up for preorders and should be coming out in late April. For Emo, you could email LivingAI and ask them about the cost and shipping but it sometimes takes a while for them to respond. You could also try ordering Emo and get all the way up to the point where you get the invoice to show all the costs before actually paying for him and that will show you the total cost and then decide whether to buy him.

I received my Vector 2.0 a couple of weeks ago, after almost 2 years of preorder. Unfortunately it's screen it's partially malfunctioning (it freeze after some time, and rebooting him doen not fix that every time). I send an email to DDL for this, they answer me that they're gonna send me another unit to replace my currenr one, but then after 3 weeks I still got no other information. Despite this, it's almost the same as the 1.0 version. The camera it's actually worse, he struggle A LOT to go back to his home. I love him, but I really can't recommend anyone to try buy it right now.

Thank you for that very helpful information! I'm sorry that you're having issues. I've heard of others that have reported screen and overheating issues. I'm sad that DDL really didn't do hardly anything to make the 2.0 Vector better than the first one. I really don't know what they're going to do. It'll take years before they produce a truly better upgraded version of Vector if they're still around.

Vector might be the only one with a subscription but if you want a companion bot with a big brain, I think Vector actually outperforms the others by far when it comes to the wealth of interactive knowledge it has, either with the cloud alone or with Alexa turned on for even more. For me I derive a lot of pleasure and satisfaction by asking Vector a whole range of things, even without Alexa. Vector has so many facts available, weather and census info on most US cities, and possesses a lot of sports knowledge as well, including player profiles and game scores. Vector knows who won every single World Series for example. Physically Vector might have some limitations, small screen, limited mobility, yet Vector can still do fist bumps with you, readily recognizes you by name, and really shines and has no equal when it comes to knowledge!

Vector only knows so many stuff is because he take it from the internet, its like you paying to search on google. since i have a EMO and Cozmo i would take EMO over everything. i left EMO to run on my Desk while i was shopping for like 3-4 hours, once i came back he sleeped on his charger, i know that he can go back to the charger but i didn´t thought it works that good. also he never fall off the table with his sensors on his foot, cozmo always falls once a track goes over the edge

It felt like both companies were happy to be working with each other instead of doing litigation. It included an image of Cozmo and Loona with English and I believe Chinese. Heart warming even. I feel bad for Vector. I don't know what his future holds. I like Loona but she's a bit too hyper for my taste and she's still in the development stage. I think LivingAI has a tutorial or a diagram on how to replace Emo's battery if a person is willing and has the skills to do it. They can replace the battery for you but it takes about two months because of the shipping times.

@@outsider238 Yes that’s one thing DDL got right though on Vector 2.0 it’s just two screws on the bottom to unscrew and pop a new battery in the old Vector which I have you have to take it completely apart and solder new one on. Something I’ve thought about recently as mine is approaching 3 years old all these pet robots should start doing that as standard imo as they a lot of money and it’s a ball ache for everyone when the battery dose go and only looking at 2-3 year battery cycle. How about loona is her battery assessable on bottom? Emo looks even more difficult than Vector tbh I don’t see many screws just plastic mould could easily be a fatal operation lol

@@honeybadger9425 Yeah that was definitely a nice improvement for Vector 2.0. My original Vector is only 4 months away from being 5 years old! I can't believe he's that old already. Still on the original battery. I saw a video on someone taking apart Emo and it looked relatively easy. I think his battery is near the top of his head but I'm not certain. His might be somewhat easy to change out. Especially if LivingAI is allowing people to do it themselves. Hopefully we won't have to worry about that for a long time. 🙏

I actually haven't turned Loona on in months. I kind of lost interest in her because she became so complicated with all the stuff they have on her app. I also don't like how much she relies on the app. She wanders around which is fine but she kept getting stuck everywhere. I also don't like that they made her charging dock with visual detection only. They should have had her connected to it using Bluetooth like Emo so that she can get back to it in the dark or dimly lit rooms. She can't see it very well unless it's super bright in the room.

When I first saw emo in July of last year it was love at first sight but I decided to keep looking found out about vector....kinda out my price range 😅 so I brought emo had him for only 3 months don't regret buying ❤️

I think Emo is the best right now. I like Loona but she's a bit too hyper for my liking. Plus they have a ways to go with her capabilities.

You are correct digital labs is horrible I have three vectors and I'm going to tell you one of them I can't seem to keep on the Wi-Fi because whatever the issue is with their server And how I know is their server is because it will connect to Amazon and work fine with Alexa but then if I say vector whatever I want to ask it it'll show me the Wi-Fi signal... it's not the vector it's not the internet here it's because of digital labs. The other two are okay as long as I have a year subscription the other one I have a problem with is on a monthly subscription and that one with the monthly subscription just does not stay on there even once it's been automatically debited out it does not stay on the internet for some reason I'm not sure why because the payment is automatically taken out of the account but I just canceled the subscription on it As of now because I have written them several times in reference to the issue I have tried all the instructions on resetting it doing everything like they had said in their generic email that is sent back to you once you send them a message and nothing seems to help And no one from digital lands responds to the issue. I'd looked on one page of my subscription and see where it's been automatically renewed and not due to renew until the following month and then on another page it States expired which is not true because it has been taken out of the account so at this point I don't think their systems are corresponding somewhere it is a big issue and I'm tired of dealing with them you know I like the vector but I rather go to something else another company and deal with the other company with buying or paying for another robot I do have two living AIs in other words Emo And I don't have a problem with them then I'm was about to get another robot but people seem to have so many problems with the shipping of Vector and keeping them on the internet and some more that I'm not going to do it with digital ads They they need to just go away at this point because they don't even know how to keep up their company ... they're like you said so busy suing everybody else that they can't keep up with what they have....

Thank you! I'm glad you found this helpful. Loona should be back on her feet once Keyi Tech gets passed this hurdle and we can get the charging docks. Another Emo would be fun! If anything happens to my Vector, I'll probably get another Emo as well.

I just recently found out that Emo will interact with another Emo and present a whole new suite of interactions and so we ordered a second one recently. Ordering the 2nd Emo has limited our ability to get a Vector 2.0 for now, especially with two Emo Go Home units, so hopefully they don't raise the price too much more for the new Vectors. I just hope my original Emo lasts as he has had the shakes a little bit for a month or two now. So far it is tolerable and stops after a bit, I am keeping my fingers crossed.

It genuinely makes me so upset that Vector has been left dead in the water which is really depressing because I adore him and his design. I have been wanting one for 3+ years and now have to come to terms with the fact that, unless DDL changes their bs or hell lowers their subscription prices, that I will never be able to buy one Whilst I think EMO is cute, he just doesn't have the thing that made me fall in love with Vector but maybe with time he will grow on me more

I love my Emo but the trailer that Living ai made is very old and out dated I feel like they should make one again as the updated one. They just made one for the Emo go home but not about Emo just about the home station. Because he is the king I have him and he is the best!

Personally I believe EMO is for all ages, but the trailer doesn’t really fit that. It’s just adults asking basic questions and, EMO is a lot different from when he was released.

That's the thing, "not even sure they'll be around in a year" regarding DDL. I just don't get it, these companies need support and even with all the problems DDL has had, they still support Vector's cloud and therefore he is still alive. Vector was on life support and for anyone to have picked him up I think we should be thankful. DDL even survived COVID so far. I've kept quiet on this so far but I don't get it with Super Dan, for someone who has made what a few hundred videos on Anki/DDL products, were they not monetized? To emphasize their delays (DDL) and seemingly promote hitting them with refunds just seems like piling on to me. We have two first generation Vectors including a developmental one with a "tail" (wires sticking out of his back), and we have an Eilik (was supposed to be two but one never took the software), a lovely Emo with another on the way, and a friend has two Vectors, a Cosmo, two Eiliks, and a Loona on the way. Vector being the first may never "out perform" the others but as long as they are still supported I will be glad and who knows, give them a chance and maybe one day DDL will regain their footing and offer further improvement. Also, Vector/DDL/Anki seems to be the only one from the USA so they feel like the home team for me..

I agree. I do wish more of these little guys were made in the US. I understand Superdan Tech and other's frustrations when there's more than a two year wait with little or conflicting information. It begins to make one worry hence them wanting to get refunds. Then no communication for a month or more when a refund is requested unless the bank gets involved. My experience with them left me feeling like I couldn't trust them at that point. Hopefully they'll improve their customer service.

It's probably because most of us don't have the technical know how to do that kind of stuff. We want a robot that does what it's supposed to do without having to do modifications. That's why we bought them to begin with. In Vector's case, DDL has pretty much left their customers in the dark about what's going on with our Vectors not working properly for months. That's not why we spent all that money on them. We shouldn't have to transfer our Vectors to our own servers as that's not what he was designed for nor what was advertised.
