Rein made a few mistakes, but for a gold tank he was really really decent! The supports are just crying for a big bulletsponge to stand in front of them, but most of the time it’s impossible atm with any tank.

I'm in high gold low plat as tank and I had a support tell me to frontline as zarya, and I get what they meant but I was getting more value by letting my dps dive while i backline bubbling them. My dps were genji and reaper. I would 100% frontline more if tanks could actually survive frontlining for more than 2 seconds without cooldowns.

I see them doing the hops without knowing that they do from watching other Reins, probably trying to emulate them... If you ever read this, Rein, lower shield and then hop backwards while pressing the shield again. It is done so you move backwards faster not just to hop in place with a shield up so they can shoot your allies' feet-

On a completely unrelated side note, Moira/Mercy is one of my least favorite support comps. And this is coming from a Moira main! It works somewhat well if your tank is aggressive (giving space for Moira to do what she needs to do; whatever you think about “tiktok Moiras,” Moira’s kit requires her to damage, even if you spend the majority of your time healing) and your Mercy is focusing on your DPS, but if your Mercy is pocketing the tank, this is terrible because Mercy cannot give the tank enough healing. So what happens is that Moira is now forced to heal the tank, so the tank is essentially double pocketed with zero value and the DPS just get ignored or don’t get the healing they deserve. Mercy players, you’re cute and I love you, but PLEASE POCKET THE DPS! Your other support will thank you.

as a Mercy player who is obsessed with damage boost, playing with other players who I can trust to keep our tank up is the best 💖 I still have to fight the urge to heal the tank when they get a bit low, but it's always gratifying to see them go back to normal color through the walls and I can keep doing what I need to do. thank you for being another support we Mercy players can trust. I understand the frustration - I occasionally play with Mercys who genuinely healbot because that's what they think their job is or just don't even feel comfortable TRYING to trust me to keep the tank up - and it's like "please! stop stealing my ult charge! our dps need you! they will give you plenty of ult charge!"

though just as an addendum, I know you're talking about healbot mercys, but sometimes damage boosting the tank is the move. just want to say that for clarity. but yeah it's rough playing with a Mercy who doesn't commit to their utility. obviously heal the tank if they're crit and under pressure and NEED two supports healing them, but tanks don't need Mercy healing as much as most Mercy players think/fear

Mercy is just a bad hero overall right now. I'd rather play Zen than her, even after the nerf. Discord might as well be damage boost and I can put a lot of pressure on the enemy team as Zen, which mitigates my need to heal as much. Plus I can actually come in clutch with trance when needed, but Mercy doesn't really have that clutch potential IMO. Rez is the best clutch and a decent team will bait the rez and actually punish you even worse for it.

@@RiseofMortals I think this comes down to personal preference. a good Mercy knows how to deal with the issues you've described, and Mercy comes in clutch in subtle ways that aren't easily seen. The same is true for Zen - I bet you can come in clutch like hell on Zen, whereas MY Zen......... often does not clutch 😂 it all comes down to individual preference and which heroes you're most comfortable with

The tank was solid for gold. If anything the supports weren't good at all. That moira made so many bad plays then tried to push the blame onto the tank. It's something you'll have to get used to as a tank main so it only gets worse the higher you go lol

The supports were playing frontline and trying to duel their tank several times. Dont play on the ground, don't just sit on kart waiting for the enemy, make proactive plays; utilize the space. Its not the job of the tank to guard the supports. Why does the tank have to know where their team is at all times, but not the team know where their tank is? Easier for the 4 to track one big guy than for 1 to track their 5 and his 4. Enjoy being a bronze support

It feels like all mechanics, no awareness. It doens't seem to me like they're tracking ults or even abilities at all. It could also be a bit of overconfidence. Most gold players don't have mechanics that good, but they know by heart when the Orisa is going to throw that spear or if they have fortify or not. Once you hit plat people will punish the lack of awareness more.

That's... not really how the matchmaker works, especially in gold? As support, you need to identify your higher sr carry and support them. If that's the tank, then both supports should focus the tank. Percentages and such, it's just simple maths

That doesn't mean you can't climb with her or that she's bad, that means that her effect on the overall match is low, which for both her and LW they are entirely reliant on gaining value through teammates. They don't do anything without their team. Compare that to Ana/Bap/Kiri/etc who can flip the whole match with one ability while doing DPS amounts of damage.

@@TheBlueCrayonalso cool little tip is you can also make your shield go through the Rein if he’s behind you and aiming for your back line and still block it, it’s pretty lenient too as Rein’s shatter hitbox actually comes out of his left foot not his hammer so as long as your shield is in front of his foot it’ll stop it, can also block it with Sym Wall, Mei Wall and Ice Block, Winston Bubble, Zarya personal or friendly bubble and Ram Shield

But i think, the bottom of the shield should be sticking or close to the ground, like don't make any gap at the bottom so the rein ult not slip through it.. it happen to me twice when the sigma in my team literally put shield in front of the rein when he is ult, we still got shattered Was so confused that time until i watch the replay.. that the shatter literally slip through it, maybe thats the reason

Not a bad tank. Just way to aggro from a support point of view. Both support spending full time keeping tank in play, but still have the responsibility of taking care of the rest of the team. In a game like this support never gets a break and youre just waiting for people to complain that theyre not getting heals.

I don't play Rein, but it was very clear there were a lot of problems and bad habits with his gameplay. The Fire strikes were good, I can't fault them, but the ults were horrendous, he got 0 people with 3 of his ults. As for the charges, it may seem good because he is getting kills, but doing these kinds of flank/high-ground charges is very gimmicky, and it's not going to work against any decent players, it will just lead to feeding and throwing games.

I'm actually a bit surprised he's gold 3. I'm around gold 1 and it's always so weird seeing this level of play and thinking that we are supposed to be about the same skill level as far as the ranking system is concerned. Not to say this as a brag or anything like that but just objectively I would wipe the floor with him if both teams had identical team otherwise. Sometimes it feels that instead of adding an additional rank on top of GM, they actually should divide high silver, gold and low plat into additional ranks because the skill level varies WILDLY down here, so every match feels like a mixed bag of coin tosses.

The point was that it sometimes feels like the ranks around gold are a real mess to deal with because the player skill varies way too much match to match since the player numbers are much more concentrated there compared to other ranks. If you've not been in the silver-plat ranks for a long time, you have no idea how much the skill level of all the players in the match can vary from match to match. So please, argue the point instead of rolling your eyes; at least my exaggerated remarks of the player ability between myself and the person in the video had a point of attempting to emphasise the issue.

So I think what the Supports were angry at is he never counter swapped and he needed a TON of resources to get things done. He needed both Supports on him multiple times because he’s playing Rein into Orisa, Mei, Bastion. Meanwhile their Sojourn was actually pretty good. Probably could have popped off more if the Mercy could have been with them instead of the Rein. Also he telegraphed EVERY ULT. And either Whiffed or had it countered for all than like… 2. If a Genji bladed 4 times and only got 2 you’d be right in calling them bad. So why does this Rein get a pass?

:/ ngl it kinda sucks that it's easy to lie in the video descriptions sent in. i never thought of it until now, but this seemed like a weird game to submit? he was doing well with rein, made some questionable plays which lead to not getting healing, so he switched to hog for the self heal. in between rounds, supports probably asked him to rein again to work with team. this pissed him off, he was an asshole in team chat, and thats why the both the moira and mercy follow him around for the entire rest of the game - seen mostly starting off at 15:16 in the vod.

Theirs a crazy amount of things you can do to counter rein ult, dps, tanks, support all have heroes who can counter his ults. Which is what he talked about before about needing to bait cooldowns in order to get a success ult but even then every role has shit that can fk up his ult.
