Researched something on google, might be a coincidence but I did this to check something. It says "To deodorize your house from an animal carcass, fill several cups with vinegar and let them sit in the smelly area. The vinegar will absorb the odor and leave it with a more tolerable vinegar scent" that could be what the vinegar is for, regarding the statue.
