This rescue took place 5 yrs ago. I am friends with Rachelle's mother and spent the weekend in the home. It's amazing the adaptations that were made for Rachelle. The in home elevator is the best! Even the kitchen was remodeled with open space below the kitchen sink and a lower counter top so Rachelle can do some activities in the kitchen. Rachelle does not let her injury stop her. She plays wheelchair rugby, bicycles, does some water sports, and other outdoor activities. She's made so much progress since this renovation was done and has more but still limited mobility. You should see her drive on her own now!! Rachelle is rocking life and her husband Chris has been there the entire way.

@@Timothy-NH Thanks....I wondered if they'd had kids. It's amazing when someone makes that commitment to a spouse, despite changes they couldn't have foreseen. I married a man that had a seizure disorder that wasn't diagnosed until he started having Grand Mal seizures 30 days prior to our 4th wedding anniversary. Many people, even his parents told me to leave to go on with my life. HOW? How could you leave someone that you loved so much? This young man, husband and father proves that love conquers all.....and it truly does. My DH died in 2002, and it still is a dull ache I can never get rid of. I long to hear his voice and see his smile. Good luck to this young couple and their little girl.

holiday 2406 I’m sorry for your loss. There is a meme that floats around on Facebook and asks that if your spouse became disabled, would you stay with them? My answer, or rather statement, is “if your answer is no, leave them now because your love is not unconditional.”

I am sure they are forever grateful for you, their community and her brother and Mom. Without them, her life would be so different. Rachael and Chris, I wish you a life of happiness together. For her friend, I can only imagine the hurt it not only caused Rachael but yourself. Just know that Rachael can now have an independent lifestyle. While just posted, this is a pretty old episode. Rachelle and Chris have been married since July of 2011, the accident that left Rachelle paralyzed happened on May 23, 2010 (Wow, coming up on 10 years!). In 2015, with the help of a surrogate, Rachelle and Chris became parents to Kaylee Rae, an beautiful little girl. I have followed their story for some time now, and with a search, you can find several documentaries about them, including the surrogacy. My favorite documentary is the one when they were going to have a family portrait done and Rachelle worked in secret from Chris to get braces made so that she could stand for the portrait.

The love your husband has for you and that he did not leave is what men are supposed to be made of, and yet the world is so hungry for more men like him. Your will-power, spirit and the love that you have in your heart will take you a long ways. Be blessed, loved and live in the moment, let the past be the past and the future a gift, but remember the present you have in this very moment. Hugs and good wishes from Colombia, S.A.

Nice concept (the show)...he seems to have a huge heart. My question is this though...instead of renovating some gorgeous existing house, why doesn't he spend the money he would have spent doing that, and build 5 small, new homes for homeless families? There are a TON of entire families that are right now homeless, through NO FAULT OF THEIR OWN, just victims of circumstances and living in their vehicle, a parking lot or a shelter, with CHILDREN for crying out loud. Children have no business growing up in a car or a homeless shelter. It hurts my heart to see this show and how all this money COULD be spent. God bless you all.
