This song by Diana Ankudinova based on poetry by poetess Marina Tsvetaeva. In my enormous city it is - night... July 17, 1916. Moscow In my enormous city it is - night, as from my sleeping house I go - out, and people think perhaps Tm a daughter or wife but in my mind is one thought only: night. The July wind now sweeps a way for - me. From somewhere, some window, music though - faint. The wind can blow until the dawn - today, in through the fine walls of the breast rib-cage. Black poplars, windows, filled with - light. Music from high buildings, in my hand a flower. Look at my steps - following - nobody. Look at my shadow, nothing’s here of me. The lights - are like threads of golden beads in my mouth is the taste of the night - leaf. Liberate me from the bonds of-day, my friends, understand: I’m nothing but your dream. Greetings from Scotland! Music to put on a loop! If you are an insomniac, which I tend to be, you spend a lot of time walking around in the night when everyone else is tucked up asleep in their beds in their homes. Basically, that's the story she tells here. Beautifully sung by Diana in that naturally deep, chocolate toned voice of hers. Set to music by the brilliant Brandon Stone. Originally from a poem by the famous Russian Poet, Marina Tsvetaeva way back in July 17, 1916. *Insomnia. 3. In my enormous city it is - night...* In my enormous city it is - night, as from my sleeping house I go - out, and people think perhaps I'm a daughter or wife but in my mind is one thought only: night. Black poplars, windows, filled with - light. Music from high buildings, in my hand a flower. Look at my steps - following - nobody. Look at my shadow, nothing’s here of me. 👉 Listen, enjoy… This is pure magic! Diana's voice so soft, mystical, hypnotizing, seductive, melancholic... It transports me to another world. I want to hear this wonderful melody, these profound words and Diana's velvety voice on an endless loop. ❤❤❤ Music - Brandon Stone Poems - Marina Tsvetaeva Arrangement - Brandon Stone * The Russian writer Marina Tswetaeva (* 1892 Moscow) is one of the great love poets of modern times. Their romantic principles were the dominance of emotion, the dark and the fateful. But with her poetic radicalism she despaired of the circumstances. Despite all the adverse living conditions, everything she ever wanted to do was write. With every syllable she felt like she was leaping over space and time. But her upper middle-class educational heritage did not protect her from rifts that could never be mended. Her thoughts turned back to the 19th century. In 1912 she married Sergei Efron; They had two daughters and later a son. Efron joined the White Army, and Tsvetaeva was separated from him during the Civil War. She emigrated with her husband to Berlin, Prague and Paris in 1922. Her husband worked for the Soviet secret police, and Tsvetaeva was shunned by the Russian exile community in Paris. Her lack of ties was as resented in Paris as in Moscow and she was shunned by the Russian exile community in Paris. It was no longer published after it declared that Mayakovsky was the poet of the future. She sticks her head into the past in order to be able to bear the present more easily. In 1939 Tsvetaeva returned to the Soviet Union. Her husband was executed and her surviving daughter was sent to a labor camp. When the German army invaded the USSR, Tsvetaeva and her son were evacuated to Yelabuga. She hanged herself on August 31, 1941. Her grave is still unknown today. She left behind a huge body of poetry, verse dramas and prose works. (www) * Brandon Stone (stage name), *1980 in Tbilisi, Georgia. He is a singer, multi-instrumentalist, composer, lyricist and arranger. Brandon is also a professional jazz pianist and a top-notch producer. His musical life began at the age of 3 with piano lessons. In 1997 he began studying jazz pianism at the music academy 'Hans Eisler' in Berlin/ Germany (he lived there with his parents). After twenty years in Germany and a few years in the USA, he now lives in Russia with his wife and two children. Brandon Stone prefers an interesting mix of styles both as a composer and as a singer (jazz/soul/pop). His melodic songs as well as high technique, emotional intensity and honesty of performance, his wonderful voice (3.5 octaves) and charm helped Brandon Stone to become popular in many European countries, America and Commonwealth of Independent States. He sings in Russian, English, German, Spanish, French, Hebrew and Georgian. Stones song “Magic Cristmas” became the #1 Christmas hit in Spain in 2002 (age 22): kzbin.info/www/bejne/laW7c6pjpLWgp68 and even overtook the song Robbie Williams. In 2005, Igor Krutoy personally asked Stone to compose and produce for the New Wave. He did it from 2005-2010. Stone has already composed ca. 800 songs and sold around 2,000,000 records, mostly as a composer or lyricist, mainly in the former CIS countries. In Georgia (Europe) he is revered as a singer and artist, as a folk hero. Stone has received many important national and international awards and prizes. In 2018-2020 he was nominated for the Victoria Prize (Similar to the Grammy. Dimash and Krutoy won the 2019 Victoria Prize). Since 2019, Brandon Stone has worked extensively with Diana. Diana's first CD of songs composed and produced by Stone, released Dec 2021, was certified Gold in June 2022. (www) * Brandon Stone’s channel: - kzbin.info/door/5UizewwhiJueG52uHx1uVg

Marina Tsvetaeva wrote the poem "In a huge city" back in 1916 after breaking off relations with her beloved Sofia Boyuk and returning to her husband and daughter. It was a period of depression, mental emptiness and insomnia in a huge city. Very modern, isn't it? The poetess explained her unusual connection very simply and succinctly. She said that love between women is wild, and loving only men is very boring. But she called her relationship with Sofia "the first disaster in her life." The rhythm of the song resembles the steps of a lonely, insomniac woman in a deserted nighttime huge city. Diana and Brandon brilliantly conveyed the state of mind of the poetess at that time. Definitely, Diana is an extraordinary pop singer. She creates her own genre - it's super emotional singing and spiritual contact with each viewer through her voice. This genre requires extreme nervous tension from the vocalist. In this, Diana has no equal among female singers.
