When Elvis sang "I'll be coming home (Heaven)", and "God, speed your love to me" -- I think that lyric meant a different meaning to him. That makes me cry , but also at peace to know he would soon escape the pains that he endured (for the love of his fans). "Unchained Melody" was originally recorded in 1955 by Todd Duncan. It’s named “Unchained Melody” not because it concerns itself with romantic love, but because it was written and composed by Alex North and Hy Zaret, for the movie "Unchained", about life in prison, based on the book "Prisoners are People". When Elvis said it was an old song, he knew it was older than the Righteous Brothers version in 1965. Elvis gave us his all to the end, we loved him and he loved us back. NO ONE will ever come close to Elvis, NO ONE.

Elvis did some up tempo songs before he did this Unchained Melody here thats why was little out of breathe talking. Far as him talking he was always shy on stage until the music began. Elvis sweating was from the lights being so low to the stage if you watch the whole concert he even says so. Yes Elvis's body was failing him but his voice never did actually voice got even stronger

I keep returning to this video, especially when I'm feeling at my worst. I do so because to me this performance is transcendent. I see a born performer who is near the end of his life, giving all of himself to one of the most passionate performances of his career. I feel that he turned "Unchained Melody" into an opus. The words of the song reflected the connection with his audience and his music, the longings of his heart, and his desire to shine on stage. He comes fully alive before our eyes during this performance, and with eyes closed we hear only his singular, undiminished voice.

I’m not sure that I have more to add beyond what’s already been written by others here. It’s a month before his passing, he’s a sick man with multiple serious medical issues but his voice maintains its range and power. Anyone hearing this live version of Unchained Melody or the live version of How Great Thou Art will never forget how his heart and soul were/are connected to the music, his G-d and his fans. 45 years since his death and he still has legions of fans the world over who remember him with gratefulness, love and affection.

"Spectacular" is a good word for Elvis. Unchained Melody was a big hit for Al Hibbler and Roy Hamilton in 1955, just as Elvis was starting to become famous. In 1965 the Righteous Bros. made it a hit again. Elvis sang it in the later part of his career, with depth and feeling to give goosebumps - every time I hear him do it.

I came across this again and lovely reaction. I'm just an older white guy in America from the Midwest but I grew up loving this him and even though I'm not overtly religious now so much. I never subtracted it from my upbringing by any means and Elvis, you have to understand something. This is very painful for me to watch. I loved him as a young man and now he is literally three months before death. They had them on so many drugs and controlled him so much it was so sad. He died way too early but boy his voice seemed to just get better and better right up until his death and he does this song and this traditional and well loved him just tremendous Justice. I consider myself a foremost expert on Elvis . I been a fan my whole life , I was only four when he died shortly after this performance . Theres been alot said about his drug use , his weight , so forth and so on . He was very ill during this tour , thats true , he was not however stoned or otherwise on drugs during this performance , although he did have lingering effects Im sure , but rather he was suffering from undiagnosed diabetes as well as his many other issues , and even though he was singing better than ever , he was really struggling through sugar lowes while performing , especially on this final tour . I believe he was having a sugar low through much of this concert . This however , is a truly beautiful rendition of this song , but hard and emotional to watch , yet it shows how he gave everything he had and then some to his fans . He was and still is the King and forever will hold that crown not only for his music, but for humanitarian he was . The fact he can still pull such emotion out of new listeners 44 years after his death is testament to that . Love , Peace and Joy to you!

You should listen to "How great thou at" from the same concert it will blow you away!! His body was failing him and he passed away shortly after this concert!! He put everything he had into that song the amazing amazing power that voice will give you chills He still had that shy little boy smile that breaks your heart in a million pieces!! After that song it's a wonder that he didn't have a heart attack right on that stage..A legend that will forever be missed!!

Thing I like about programs like this it gets the word out to the next generation and experience of Elvis for loving and appreciate the goodness and generosity and sweetness that the man is that he had such great heart but he put everything he had into all his performance but knowing he was so sick at the end and really did everything possible to please the audience like he always did he did such beyond words marvelous fantastic incredible it put me to tears I mean he is this marvelous the way he was entertainer or movie star anything you did it's just he's a Sweet soul I just wish he could have helped himself before it got too late it was tragic when we lost lost him and we don't have him anymore but this will linger on to the next so they learn more and more about Elvis as the generation goes on and that's great and memories that he won't be forgotten he once said that he was hoping he wouldn't be forgotten in 40 years well he's got to understand he never will and we love him now and forever and it will pass on to their kids and their grandkids and even then so I love this performance I love Elvis like so many and we enjoy this and we look so forward to seeing him someday you got to believe in that

I love your reaction it was beautiful. Unfortunately, Elvis was one of the most beautiful souls ever, but he was a tortured soul. This concert was 4 months before he died. He was over weight, sweating like crazy from being on so many drugs, but it didn't stop him because he loved his fans so much, but his beautiful heart couldn't take it any more and he died from all the drugs. He was so loved, and missed!!!

Elvis was the best friend i ever had in my entire life. we met when i was 17 yrs old. I won a radio show contest and the prize was a day with Elvis but our friendship lasted past that one day in time. All the memories of my friend are tucked safe in my heart forever. dancing and singing breaks my heart because i know he is not here anymore my mind understands but my heart never will, i saw him a few weeks before he passed we had a short conversation which i will never share again because people are so nasty and comment hurtful heart breaking things they do not know me but they still can't keep their mouths closed about things they know nothing about. I walk past Graceland everyday.. He was so sick here but did Parker care NO!! Elvis was a means to an end to Tom i hated him and i made it my personal mission to tell him so many times.
