Emotional flypast for US airmen who sacrificed themselves to save children

Ten US airmen who sacrificed themselves to save children playing on a field in Sheffield 75 years ago have been honoured with an emotional flypast. It follows a campaign by 82 year old Tony Foulds who owes his life to the airmen.

I used to live near Grafton Underwood as a child. We would cycle over to the dispersal points and sections of runway mingled with the farmland and countryside. We would stop by the memorial to tidy and replace wreaths etc. One Sunday afternoon an old veteran appeared, from an unnoticed parked car nearby, whilst we kept the memorial. He was in tears and tried to thank us. After a few minutes or so we sat and we listened to his experiences. These had us roaring with laughter one minute and turning our skin to goosebumps the next. He gave my friend and I a gift. I got his gunners mittens. My friend his cap. Over the years we met many vets. But we never saw this gentleman again. I still have his gift and I'll never forget him or the other guys.

Seems like your'e a little misguided, it was under NATO and not the EU powered by the USA, the UK and other allies to stop the most recent war in Europe. NATO the very organisation the EU would like to replace it with an EU army.
