What a rollercoaster for you! That the filly went so high means a number of other people saw in her what you saw--which is a good thing despite getting bid up further than you felt you should go. She seemed perfect. It's no wonder you felt so emotional! Sending hugs! The Vanner was beautiful and looked like it had some really good training! As the economy goes south,, the horse auctions will see more and more quality horses. My feed bill is killing me and I'll probably be selling my rescue horse next spring...I simply can't justify the money anymore. Feed is almost double, and hay is through the roof...IF you can find it.

I so understand the emotional roller coaster a horse auction can be. I too, have fallen head over heels for a particular horse and lost the bidding battle. And had to step outside to cry. In fact, I cried with you while watching this vid. It can go well beyond disappointment. It borders on despair. You are amazing. I’m too old to train and ride now. Wow! That filly seemed to go crazy high in my opinion. I’m with you on a filly over a colt. Not necessarily because of Belle accepting the newcomer, but colts are quite a bit friskier, even a bit mean, at play compared to fillies. I think in the long run another filly will be a better companion for her. Good luck!
