Same here. I went to the Touchstone Energies 300 at Talladega in April 2000. Amazing race by the way. But, I was rooting for this kid who spent the whole day in the middle, back when you didn’t do that. He somehow did. He didn’t win, but I was hooked. Going to miss him.

Yeah and hopping in those cars doing that well right away the first few races is thanks to Dale. Those cars were already built and setup the way Dale wanted them setup and that shows how well Dale knew what made the 3 cars faster than the competition more often than not
@BGBG-dq2rd8 ай бұрын
Soooo, Dale knew how Kevin wanted the cars setup????? Listen, EVERYTHING you said and more is true about Dale, but what works for one is horrible for another. Kevin set his own cars up for what worked for him.

Any longtime fan of the sport I think Kevin has a place in our hearts as he took that 29 car to victory lane right after Dale was killed and most of us was hurting at that time and he helped us heal.

One of the two people in my life that I have always looked up to. An absolute icon of the sport and a very deserving hall of famer. A story he wanted to tell and a story that I will always remember till the day I die. The memories have been great and even though im sad its over, im so glad it happened. Thank you Kevin Harvick. #harvicknation #4ever

I coached high school wrestling in California for over 30 years. On the wall in the Bakersfield Arena, where the state meet is held, is an article giving tribute to Harvick. It mentions that in his senior year he made it to the medal round (top 8) which is VERY difficult to do, and he left the arena. It was opening night at Mesa Marin Speedway and he was the defending track champion. His coach understood.

I know he wants to spend more time with his family and get out of the yearly week to week grind..but something he said here is very telling. He says He'd rather finish out competitive versus scrapping for a paycheck. I believe this is the #1 reason he is leaving. He sees SHR is going further downhill on the cup side and there are no powerhouse organizations with open rides. Add that in with how disgusted he is with the direction of the sport. He is not happy with car changes and how its effected safety and performance as well as rule changes that have screwed him out of a couple championships. 2022 I think did him in with how nascar screwed Ford, Hass neglectfulness and how the whole first playoff round played out. Darlington his team screwed him with two horendous pitstops in which he fought back and recovered only to only catch on fire in the cockpit..then at bristol he had to win to advance and he did his part and his crew choked the money stop and cost him from advancing. I think whats really happening is Kevin is discouraged with the lack of effort from SHR to keep up with the other organizations. He goes 💯 in every facet from sponsorship,marketing, weekly preperation, off season prep and is nore hands on than any other driver. When joining SHR he was finally able to use all of his abilites to manage his team and do things his way. He doesnt see the same commitment coming from the organaization that he is giving. On top of all that though, I think he also figures this late in his career he doesnt want to make another team jump and have to reestablish realtionships and go through the whole proccess. The stars aligned when joining SHR in 2014 to Tony Stewarts credit he made it happen for Kevin who was restricted in many ways at RCR Richard made sure things were done his way with HIS guys..and is still like that today which is why he still hasnt won a cup championship since Dale did it. Of course being the class act Kevin is, he would never come out publically and say any of this and throw anyone under the bus. Regardless, Im thankful that he got through this final season safely other than that whole bruised rib deal. And is able to end things on his terms, how he wanted to. Will miss seeing my favorite Driver out there. #4EVER
