I think the funny thing is that if this was played by Petrucci within a Dream Theater song or any of the other players we normally cite as the “greats,” it would be considered one of their best solos they’ve ever played. But because Stel is relatively unknown, he doesn’t get the recognition he deserves. His blend of technicality with emotion is definitely one of the most solid of any player I’ve ever listened to.

As Marty Friedman pointed out, this kind of solo is what demonstrates your true skill level. No shredding or speed-picking of any kind, no extra notes and noise to bury or cover up mistakes. In a solo like this, if one tiny thing is off, everybody catches it. This is truly a magnificent display of perfection that results from thousands on top thousands of hours of practice. And on a blasted Squier at that!!!!!!!! Excellent work, good sir.

Too many players fall into the "trap" of playing too many notes too quickly... In my humble opinion, the secret is just to "let the music breathe" - leave some space between the notes - silence is golden, just as golden as the notes are... Stel gets it, and it is simply gorgeous to listen to.

Malcolm Naylor he’s stated in other comments that this is the standard pickups. It’s actually a squire bullet which is a $200 dollar guitar. He gets this sound from a good amp and probably uses some sort of input booster and sustain pedal. I can get my squire standard to sound very similar, but I don’t get as much sustain as him.
