sakurakou2009 I understand your thought process but I think whatever way you think about it; not being truthful to yourself grows hatred and shame; both of those qualities are what cause disparity between others.

Damn this is unbelievably so real... Showing the complexity of today's problems, and how they feed into eachother. Really showing the nitty gritty, ugly parts of both sides, with no biased views or agendas. Just felt like real people who have real problems. As an Asian British and bisexual, I can fully relate to this.
@cobscobscobs5 жыл бұрын
bye girl exactly, what I’m saying is regardless of your race, sexuality, gender etc; hatred and shame are the main two qualities in the world that cause upset and conflict. Also as a second note being a gay man myself; the majority of the homophobic jabs and attacks (more times than I’d like to have experienced) have been from white men so I fully understand your point.
@cobscobscobs5 жыл бұрын
bye girl obviously; the hate we experience in old fights become insidious and clever and hide themselves it’s not as obvious as like you mentioned within the 70s. All I am saying is that it IS ALWAYS WRONG TO HATE AND ALWAYS RIGHT TO LOVE AND LISTEN AND UNDERSTAND. And that applies to every part of life

@Axel-ys4nm6 жыл бұрын
dentz That’s my point the BBC is disingenuous with its approach at its very core true depictions of society is vetted for the viewers not to be offensive. Have you seen Real housewives of Isis? I was genuinely shocked when the BBC aired it but in reality it’s classed as a comedy. I wonder why? Legal repercussions possibly
@dentze6 жыл бұрын
Axel Wtf?? I hadn't even heard of The Real Housewives of Isis. That sounds tone deaf for sure. But yeah no I get what you mean, Channel 4 is honestly way ahead of the other channels in challenging things like this, have been for years. But at a time when nationalism wasn't as strong as it is now (I'm not saying it hasn't always been a problem), Waterloo Road and some of the children's dramas were very good at pushing boundaries and being inclusive, showing all aspects of British life and culture. But yeah, the BBC has gone back to being relatively soft, and to an extent politically correct, in recent years, while Channel 4 only continues to be realistic.

Pretty good representation. Going off this clip alone, it shows that the anti Islam marches are based on sound principles, propped up with bullshit. Yeah, there’s a lot of ignorance which is where the hate comes from IE “halal funds terrorism”. But I’m glad they included the valid “they hate gay people” etc and didn’t paint Sam to be evil. Islam is far from perfect, but hate is hate regardless.
@leopardprints6 жыл бұрын
I checked, and this episode was written by a Muslim woman, as was the most recent episode featuring the Sam and Nas storyline. I was wondering if it was a white person that wrote it. Kudos to them for having the balls to highlight valid concerns about Islam. I think there are valid concerns about extremism, but as you say, it's often mixed in with total bullshit. But I would say that many of the issues stem from Muslim men, rather than Muslim women. You can't deny that Islam (as are other religions) is a very sexist religion. And there are Muslim men who see white women as beneath them, as 'dirty' and 'slags'. Hence the grooming gangs, who were targeting young white girls- most of them came from a Pakistani Muslim background. It's not an imagined problem. I would love to see a whole series based around this Sam and Was storyline, because it would be an interesting concept to explore. Shame it has to be shoved into an hour TV show like this. It will be interesting to see how their families accept them, particularly Sam's racist grandfather.
@mariaqasem68056 жыл бұрын
leopard prints as a muslim women from a relatively non sexist culture i can tell you that islam isnt sexist certain cultures like arab and pakistani cultures are. Over time a lot of cultures have implemented islam incorrectly within themselves resulting in something that goes completely against islam, take for instance this whole grooming gang. 1. Sex out of marriage is not allowed. 2. Rape can at times be punishable by death. 3. The equality of races is very important. These are islamic beliefs that have very clearly been violated by these "muslim" gangs. Grooming white women they are not married to without their consent because theyre white. This very obviously goes AGAINST islam yet people still beg to blame it not on the culture that this act has stemed from but on the religon that actually forbids and punishes it.
@mariaqasem68056 жыл бұрын
leopard prints i would love to know what parts of islam you find sexist
@leopardprints6 жыл бұрын
ALL religions are sexist and patriarchal- Christianity, Catholicism. Islam is no different. C'mon, can't you see it? Hence the reason you rarely see Muslim women acting badly, and if they do, it's usually down to the influence of their male partner. You may want to watch some videos or read testimonials from female ex-Muslims, who talk about how misogynistic Islam is. Just as ALL religions are. Not singling out Islam here- just the Islam seems to have a problem with moving along with the times. Hence the reason why the Islamic world is so fucked up, compared to the Christian world (again, Christianity is fucked up too, but at least the Christian world managed to modernise)

I’m MUSLIM and I have INTEGRATED, now I get shamed on by the Muslim Community for dressing like a Western person! What is so wrong with me INTEGRATING into the country I live in!

Stupid us vs them mentality is what is wrong with the world. A lot of my Muslim family think they're superior to Non-Muslims and it pisses me off. We are all human, can't we all just get long!

No one is saying it’s wrong to stick with your race, it’s only natural. There’s nothing wrong with only wanting to marry within your race either. The problems start when groups like Sam say that immigration causes “white extinction” when the majority of non-white immigrants marry their own anyway. In South Africa and Namibia there’s areas where black people, the natives can’t get their go or even buy their land back cos it was STOLEN but God forbid a black person owns a house or an Asian owns their own small business in Europe. 🤔

Why do the actors in these programmes always sound like they have a sore throat? Hollyoaks is the same. GCSE drama acting!
@-phoebetuffs-72556 жыл бұрын
Francesca X cause they have probably done the same scene multiple times , and it does involve shouting so of course it effects their throats.

Very good. And what about a story showing a lesbian facing bigotry from a conservative Islamist family or would that be too politically incorrect for Channel 4?

The problem is that people get mad when they hear uninformed wrong stuff like eating halal funds terrorism instead of educating and taking away the fear. We have to get over our pride and try to communicate more - on both sides. And we have to be understanding when talking to someone who grew up only hearinf wrong stuff about other cultures. Of course they will start to internalize and believe it. You accomplish and change nothing by getting angry, you have to try to explain stuff.

Sam has a point... kind of. I don’t agree but I get what she means; if Muslims or Christians or any group are allowed to hate homosexuals why can’t other groups hate those groups? Religion doesn’t justify hate and homophobia. Religion is a choice, sexuality isn’t.

@embe1016 жыл бұрын
Keeva Banting you do know the story yeah? And you know how he ended up? And what he taught his son? His values in life and how they differed from what he was taught? How it’s more than obvious that Hermione and probably many other muggleborns challenged his beliefs. Not to mention he was pushed into joining the death eaters because his family would’ve been killed if he hadn’t. He wasn’t a murderer, or evil person. He was a misinformed teen who was born into the wrong crowed, pushed into the wrong direction without much choice as to what to do. Everyone has potential for change (except Voldemort and Bellatrix, they’re fucking crazy), and I whole heartedly believe that Draco along with that character in the video is capable of that.
@embe1016 жыл бұрын
Keeva Banting yeah but they both taught their son that blood purity didn’t matter, he just so happened to fall in love with someone who grew up in relatable circumstances...you know what it doesn’t matter none of this matters, you know why? ‘Cause it’s fiction man! Just have fun with it and don’t take it too seriously. To quite Albus Dumbledore “It does not do well to dwell on dreams and forget to live” (I think that’s the quote anyways). Dramione is just another one of many ships out there that I ship and I will ship it til the day I die, why? ‘Cause the writing genius’ who have created brilliant fanfics using this ship make me smile with their work! Ship what you want, don’t hate. I understand your opinion but you take these things far to personally. Girl, check your eyebrows.
