Emotional Reunion for Fisherman Who Helped Save Winter the Dolphin

On December 10, 2019, Jim Savage, the fisherman who found Winter the Dolphin entangled in a crab trap, and his great-niece, Grace, who was inspired by Winter's survival to fight her own health struggles years later, met again at Clearwater Marine Aquarium to celebrate Winter's 14th Rescue Anniversary.

Just moved to Florida three years ago all I’ve been wanting to do was go see winter with my kids. When I first had them watch the movie they were in mad in tears annd in love lol then I told them it was a true story ever since then it’s winter winter winter. Hopefully we get to see her soon. Bless her and all who have taken such good care of her. She’s lucky to be alive all these years later!!

Trapping crabs is how some people make a living, survive. Winter was the ONLY dolphin ever to get tangled in one. Boats do more damage to dolphins and manatees than anything. Should boating be banned? Or boaters should just be more careful and aware of the wildlife around them.
