Brittany from @thesuperheroteacher partnered up with We Are Teachers and Lysol to give me and my students the classroom of our dreams. In this video I chat with you a bit about the process, show you my raw reaction (yes, I was shocked), and then I give you a tour. Thank you so much for being here and for watching. I hope you enjoy!

Omg I would have given anything to have a space like that to learn in high school! It's awesome your school allows that kind of unique space. Just imagine if all schools were so inviting, I'm sure we'd probably see a lot more enthusiasm in children to be in school with such a beautiful environment. So sorry to hear what you and the kids had to go through, they are lucky to have such a strong teacher who cares about them. Best wishes with the new school year!

The Makeover Mom so true 😩😍😍😍 my school doesn’t even have a ceiling... there are just pipes and cables hanging everywhere... besides my school would never allow to store so much stuff inside the classroom due to safety reasons (in case of a fire). Additionally where I come from teachers switch rooms and students switch rooms so it wouldn’t be possible in the first place. :(( so sad ...I think it’s just so much easier to learn in an environment you feel comfortable in.

Seriously!! The reason I clicked was because I thought this would be like a home school type of situation. It’s crazy that they allowed that !! It’s such an inspiring space ❤️it’s really sad that probably 99% of students don’t get this privilege/:

Unfortunately it's very expensive :/ My walls and ceiling are atrocious but I can't afford to fix it and when it comes to district I will have to take down my hours of hard work at a moments notice because lord knows the summer is for huge repairs and little stuff doesn't always happen. This year I'm just hoping no more of my chairs break from kids leaning in them 😅

Olivia, a lot of teachers do realize that, and try to make their classroom a better environment for learning. But, teachers are such an important and influential part of society, and they aren't paid nearly enough! They also aren't given very much money to spend on school supplies and their classroom. My sister is a teacher and she usually has to spend her own money on stuff for her classroom.

Nessa it definitely does, you’ll be more likely to understand their social culture. Especially in a generation where technology is constantly changing and it is more common for the young to adapt to. And it helps a lot of students feel more understood as well. I’m not saying every young person will understand high schoolers, but it definitely helps for some young teacher. It doesn’t take away from her having a great personality. You can disagree, we’ve had different experiences with professors and teachers.

Hey. I know it’s still a sensitive subject and definitely wouldn’t want you to make this video until you’re comfortable, but could you make a video on your experience w the shooting or like what you think teachers should know in order to be more prepared for a situation like that? I totally understand if you can’t/ don’t want to, but I just feel like it could be beneficial.

I live in florida and when the tragedy happened I began to make shirts that say “remember the 17” to sell them at my school. I ended up being able to donate all of the proceeds to Stoneman Douglas. 3. I have 3-4 extra shirts and if you wanted them I would be more than happy to give you them! I sold so many to my school that I ran myself out of business

Alyssa Brown that’s hilarious. So many teachers her age still live at home because they can’t even afford to pay basic cost of living expenses at base teacher salaries. My husband was injured in a car accident a few years ago and it was a rude awakening for us when my teacher salary couldn’t pay the bills. I hope that people remember that this beautiful classroom will make her students feel calm, safe, and ready to learn especially after everything they’ve been through this past year.

I know this may sound bad or weird to some but i’ve always wanted to become a teacher. Since I was a little girl I used to play school and just teach all of my stuffed animals as if they were my students. With that being said, living in this society makes me scared to fur fill that dream. Tragedies like this scare me and I honestly don’t know how i’d react in that situation due to my extreme anxiety and to have to protect all of those students makes that even more intense for me. Seeing these videos helps so much but that’s just been a little concern for that and I can’t thank you enough for that. Your such an incredible and brave person which is so inspiring to me.

I just discovered your channel, and I cannot thank you enough for being THAT teacher. I was homeschooled from year 8 (13 years old) onwards because I'm autistic, and the way my mind and body worked was seen as wrong, and bad, and unwanted in the schooling system. I was so misunderstood by teachers that the bullying (from them) resulted in me nearly dying three times. If the world had more teachers like you, so many kids who feel so unsafe and unloved and unWANTED would actually have an opportunity. Thank you. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

OKAY IM JUST EXPRESSING MY FELLINGS GET OUT IF YOU DONT CARE So this happened to me in 4th also and it happened in 5th im in 5th.We used to have a teacher named Ms.Forman and then one day she said "im not going to be here for 3 weeks because of some buisness" And she left. During the 3 weeks we had a sub. Then one day the vice principal came to our class and said Ms.Forman was not our teacher anymore and that they found a new teacher. She is Ms.tejani and she said our new teacher was still in college and she was young. Then came the day before christmas break. We got to meet her and look in the room when I walked in their it looked AMAZING IT WAS LIKE I WAS IN MY DREAM ROOM. It had fairy pink lights on top of the whiteboard, dragon pictures also other animal pictures,it had cute stickers, and a cozy library. IM SO GREATFUL TO HAVE HER BUT I HATE THAT SHE WILL BE OUR TEACHER FOR A SHORT TIME BECAUSE SHE WILL START TEACHING IN JANAUARY AND THE LAST DAY OF SCHOOL IS ON MAY. I FEEL SOOOOOO GOOD I EXPRESSED MY FEELINGS BYE

I love you soooo much!!! Seeing you come into theatre last year and hangout with all of us and coming to coffee house and just having fun with all of us are the things I'm going to miss now that I'm an official Douglas alumni. Your room looks amazing and this video brought me to tears especially since we are all restarting since everything happened. You are such an amazing teacher and person!!

As a teacher in Germany I find this to be so interesting.... we don't have our "own" classrom where the students come to. I switch rooms for every class I teach... so I can't decorate my classroom 😥

This is so exciting! It's gorgeous!! I'm 4'9.5", and I'm in the process of getting my teaching license for art. I would love to be able to have a classroom half as amazing as yours. You and the kids deserve it! Also, my mom taught 9th grade English for 25 years. It's great to see teachers who are passionate and want to touch the lives of kids (:

This is the most amazing classroom I've ever seen! And it's even cooler that it's English which is my favorite subject! And such a creative environment to write and learn in. You are so full of life I wish to only find a passion one day as strong as yours with teaching. You need to be on Ellen, and help others transform children's lives and classrooms. Good luck this year!

I don't understand, do teachers have to bring their own furniture and stuff in the US or what? All the classrooms from kindergarten to highschool are fully equiped in my country.
@loren0531

Regular school desks and chairs are provided. But cute furniture pieces like the picnic table and fuzzy rugs and pillows are from the teacher. Most teachers go above and beyond to create a great learning space for their students with the money in their pocket. They truly deserve a lot more. Hope that answered your question!

in the us yes schools have desks and chairs and everything k-12. but this is a very special case because of the shooting that happened at this high school last year. i think she wanted something special because going back to this school after what happened. and trying to learn. thats gonna be really difficult. i think she wanted to to feel special and cozy and safe to make the students feel at home. theres also a new kinda movement for flexible seating in us schools so students arent sitting on hard chairs all day so the comfy chairs are probable for that
