I hear "Ya" a lot in k-dramas. I think it's just like "hey" but it seems to have a lot of uses. May be worth and episode.

Mara Sarno just do what you would do in English. You raise your tone when you ask a question in English, and you do the same in Korean. Like this: Jinjja? 진짜? Really? All the same
