I’m surprised to hear he’s not a theocratic writer but an architect

I can't believe that he said: "i want to say with personal certainty that it is not possible to invent meaning. Meaning, by a philosophical definition, has to be grounded in what is, that means in the cultural and then biological heritage that we have" and then proceeded to explain that a painting is not a mixture of paint blobs on a in a canvas (which would actually be what IS the painting physically and therefore the ground from which meaning should arise) Being that emergence impossible, evidently, we do seem to convey meaning to things, even to random phenomena such as apophenia and pareidolia, mainly because they need to become linguistic when they enter the imaginative realm (which is contrary to both the Real and Symbolic realm, in lacanian terms)

Could you expand a bit more on this sentiment you shared?

what you quoted, for me only reads as saying that a machine or a jellyfish will never get any meaning out of a painting unless the machine or the jellyfish itself also operates on the ground of "what is, that means in the cultural, then biological heritage that we have". What do you think?

TLDR: try and create architecture for living/ old guy uses medieval images compared to barren modern images without people to "prove his point" LOL

one can certainly "rebrand" the pictures shown in a cynical manner. Still, one is also able to go out to the streets and take a look at how people and buildings interact nowadays. Perhaps even take notes about one's findings. What do you think?
