When you give the narcissist a small amount of freedom to do something, they will try to get a lot more from you. Just as the saying goes, when you give the narcissist an inch, they want a mile. While they expect much from you, they will not provide you with anything or little things in return. They will promise you so many good things they will give you in the future. But in truth, they have no intention of ever giving back anything they took from you or even fulfilling any promise they made to you.

I've been with a covert for 29 years. What a mess I've gotten myself into with the deception and manipulation. I was too empathetic! He played me like the fool I was. No More I say! I see everything so clearly now. I must always remember that red flags are the color of Satan's eyes for a reason! He mistook my kindest for stupidity for far too long! I foolishly was charmed out of my freedom of choice by his words, but the actions spoke volumes. Someday I will get away completely but for now I will proceed with my eyes wide open and my mouth only speaking the truth! For I will see no evil in my future!

Typical response from them--i.e., putting the blame on YOU--no matter what THEY did/didn't do. People, be cautious! I cannot get rid of my 'narsissist' without fear of his revenge. What do I do?

Sadly the caracter you have described sounds very very much like my daughter. Unfortunately we moved in together a few yrs ago to save on expenses. Worse thing I could have done. She's not into drugs or anything. Just always needs financial help from me because she wastes her own money and leaves me to pay for all of the food and most of the rent and tends to try to correct everything I say as if I'm always wrong about everything. It's just very hurtful.

That’s so sad. It’s revealed with my mother. I had developed a drug problem, and in the beginning she even enabled it. Once it became too much, she did what her version of “tough love” is. Let me explain: Total ignorance to my existence, throwing out everything I owned and left at their house to protect it all from myself. Irreplaceable things. All gone, yet she took the time to go through it and keep what she wanted. All photos were taken down. Any sign of my existence erased. Never once did she try to even ask if I needed help. To get me in a rehab. She had no problem making me sleep in my car though. Is that “tough love”? No. It’s sheer indifference.

My ex sister in law did all of this in video. She destroyed my parents retirement and went after my elderly parents assests in a divorce. I had to battle her out of the door. It took 9 years. This video is right on.

I think all the focus on every narcissistic person (humans) being un able to change is close minded and will further some people to tag people as narcs. I feel no one can change a narcissistic person, but themselves since they have far back to journey and take responsibility.

It’s not funny, but it’s exactly what I’m in the middle of! I have basically been disowned by my Narcissistic mother, and “her other son”, who at one time was a brother. We are in the same exact boat. Only I have daydreams of punishing them both. That woman is a work of the devil. And he’s just an asshole. All things aside, I’m sorry that you’re in your situation. It’s not like you want them back,(if I’m right), you just want them different.

Why are all the narcissist in the illustrations men? I was married to a female narcissist for 15 years before I realised what was going on. She drove me into depression and bankruptcy, then tried to sue me in court when she divorced me on grounds of unreasonable behaviour. Men are the victims of narcissist too.
