This is quite honestly one of my favorite Jackie Chan movies, it's a shame it's not really recognized as one of his best films. When I bought this on DVD, I did not know what to expect. I just saw Jackie Chan in the cover and that was enough for me, and what I got was almost the opposite of your average Jackie Chan experience. This movie sold Jackie Chan as a serious actor to me, instead of just an awesome action star. One of my favorite Jackie Chan fight scenes is also found in this movie, the one in the lego store. It's just a ridiculous location for a fight scene, a location that has endless opportunities for some comedy... but it's one of the least funny fight scenes he has ever done. Definitely my favorite one on one fights from him.

New Police Story is Jackie’s best film in recent decades. It doesn’t get enough praise. The action is not frequent, but it’s hard hitting and memorable. I wish Jackie made sequels to this film with the same tone in the 2000s.
